Just seeing if someone can give me feedback on this problem i have. it just started happening on my 1000 and it always happened on my 2000.whenever i record from my microokorg into the mpc, any keys on 1:01:00 will NOT play. So, when i play the loop back, the 1st key wont play but, the rest of the loop will. Like i said this is just starting to happen on my 1000 so it cant be a default type problem. i have no clue why its happening though. Any suggestions??

is it playin the first time and then the midi note on 2.4.48 or whatever is cutting the one on 1.1.00 off?

Man its wishy washy. 2/10 stop&starts will play the full midi loop. The rest will start from say 2:02:48 (or whatever). $hits very annoying of course. I can't figure out why its SUDDENLY starting to happen on my 1000. However, it "seems" to only happen with my korg. I use a yamaha too and it hasn't really happened.

check the duration of the last note in the loop. if its longer than the remainder of the loop, it wil play over the next note, i.e. the first note of the sequence. shorten it to fill the exact amount of space left over and try that.

 d@mn cuz...i didn't think of that...however, i'll press stop..wait..then press play and the 1st note STILL wont play....so i can see where ur coming from on the loop end, but i shouldn't experience this on the 1st play, only when it loops (if thats the problem)

are you recording a bar of silence at the beginning so the midi has time to synch up?

it only happens when recording right?

a bar of silence? naw....never have and it always worked before. it records the notes. the trouble is with playback and it only happens sometimes. it NEVER happened with my 1000 until this week

well i haven't gotten into midi synch type recording, but thats what i hear from all over. that you stick a bar of silence at the beginning of the first sequence cause sometimes theres a lag when the systems start talking to each other.

even if it just started happening, i could imagine it happening now if maybe your computer is running slower than usual (for any number of reasons - spyware, norton, multitasking, not reinstalling your os for a while, i dunno) and it wasn't an issue before cause your comp weas quick enough to overcome latency...

just a thought anyway...

but i'm not recording into my cpu yet...i'm speaking only on recording into the mpc sequencer.

oh...then thats some crazyness going on...a headscratcher.

edit: actually id still try the bar of silence approach, cause maybe theres a lag from the korg and the mpc. as to why it just started who knows, machines act like people sometimes....

what yall are telking about is midi latency and it has been around since dirt(or the dawn of MIDI, whichever was first  )

but anyways, yeah, try the bar of silence approach too, that should help out. what it is is that it takes a second for the midi info to get to the outboard module. so thats why they suggest putting a bar of silence up front. it gives the equipment a chance to start their "conversation" and begin in time.

is it the timing corection? Turn it to off then try the keys. With timing on it will move the midi data to the nearest setting ex. 1/8. 1/16 etc. I would also cop new midi cables. Also are u playing to long? u might be playing over the loop and cutting off the ish.

i dont think its the time correction bing. i'll try it out though. when i go into the step edit all the notes are in the correct spot. it very well could be the cables though. i use different cables with my yamaha and it doesnt happen. only haps with my korg and it's cables. i'll check it out and get back with u.

It's not midi latency. What's happening is the last note of the loop is sustaining too long and cancelling the first one. Mesh had it right in his earlier post. You'll notice that even if you are not recording when you hit a note on your keyboard while your sequence is playing it will drop out the note in the sequence to play the note on the keyboard.
REMEDY: release the note before the sequence loops again.
