Volume differences between preview/click and playback

Man whats with this!

the click is incredibly loud, as are the sames on preview when checking them out, then on the pads it appears less than half as loud, infact sometimes its hard to hear my sounds because the click is so loud.

I turned up the master volume to 0db, but it seems to have turned everything up..

any ideas? I can't find this in the manual before you scream and shoutat me

Try adjusting the sample volume in program mode to 100 (default is 70). If the click/metronome is still too loud for you, you could either raise the volume of your samples with a sound editor like Audacity (freeware) or just use the metronome to sequence drum tracks then shut it off when sequencing samples.

Joe, if you have difficulty hearing your samples with the click in background try switching the Full level on. If it doesn't help, make sure your samples are normalized (you can make use of Normalize function in the Trim mode right in the MPC).

Also, try experimenting with Velocity curves. MPC 500 pads are rather rigid in the beginning. But, generally, you won't want to get a full velocity when just touching the pad slightly. So, it is a combination of the force you apply on the pad and its response which is regulated by a velocity curve. You will know when you get the right response, so use your ears (and your fingers, too).

Well, have a look on how you can use Velocity curves and switch Full level on/off... where? Yes, in the MANUAL, man! There's a section in it, that you can use to find information easily, which is called Index. Well, Contents could be helpful sometimes too.

Sorry, I don't intend to insult or offend you with it, man. But the features you tend to ask here about are BASIC and are fully covered in that black thin book.
