Upgrading to JJ OS2 I think!!!!

I bought an MPC 1000 that already had version 4.97 installed. I see 4.99 on here all the time being good for having the password installed internally to obtain the new OS2. So I guess my question is..........

Does my MPC already have the OS1 password needed to upgrade to OS2? I have version 4.97. I wanna make sure I'm doing things right.

if you can access the save screen on your mpc then yes, the OS1 password has already been entered for you, which means you can now upgrade to OS2...

the new product id# has 5 digits, the first upgrade only had 4 digits in the id#.

I can save in 4.97

I just loaded the OS2 into the mpc but when I turn it off and on with tap tempo pressed, the original 4.97 starts and looks the same.

So i guess it's safe to say that the version 4.97 "does not" upgrade to OS2?

You need to install JJ OS1 version 4.98 or higher in order for the MPC1000 to properly install OS2.
So just install OS1 4.99 and then install OS2, and you'll be good to go.

I have JJ 3.08 and I want to switch to OS2. So I install JJ OS1 version 4.98 or higher (without asking any password) and then OS2 asking a password for it. Is this the right procedure? So in this way I will have my authorized version of OS2 plus a "trial"
version of the OS1 4.98 on the same machine. Right?
