Just bought a 2000xl and it already got problems.

After I received my 2000xl, I noticed from vids that the data wheel made these click sounds when turned, when I got mine, it spun smoothly and it didnt work. The note variation slider did not respond when I moved the slider up and down. How much would it cost to repair both of these? I think I read that the data wheel needed some soldering, which I do not have the equipment or the practice to do myself. If any of these just need plugging in and screwing on type of work... easy for me, but anything else I might need to hire "Forat"to do. Anyone know the price range it might cost me. I am talking with the seller to make some sort of negotiation since I received the machine from her in partial working conditions. Thanks for the help.

Call Forat or VST and ask for an estimate.... not sure if they will give it to you though

They normally want you to send it in for a fee to look at it, and then the fee is applied to your final cost if you decide to let them fix it...

sounds like you got a lemon, I'm assuming its 2nd hand? Get in contact with the seller if possible.

You may not be using the Nv slider correctly, have you assigned a pad to it?

It's supposed to click, that's the way it was designed. If it doesn't click then something is not
right with it but some/most people might prefer that anyway?!?!? who knows...

When you are in the main screen, use the Arrow keys and move on the BPM section. Turn the DATA wheel and see of the bpm's are changing (they normally are at 120.0 BPM default). If it's not working both sides then you need a new DATA wheel. For the slider to work you need to press the SHIFT together. However, even if it's not working then you shouldn't care. I never use it and never needed to. It's just an extra slider to already assigned buttons.

For the DATA wheel fix you need to get your hand dirty. If you don't learn sooner or later how to solder/unscrew/mess with electronics, then the MPC's are not for you. And I am saying this cause you WILL have to do it sooner or later. Otherwise you will end paying $100 for a fix of $15 plus at least a couple of weeks in the wait.

What the hell are you talking about Lamp? Ive owned 5 XL's in my life and none of them make a click noise. the 1k and 25k make click noises. You can feel the data wheel "catching" a lil bit but thier is no click noise like the 1k

I bought this from ebay and I contacted the seller. She is having ups check it out today. I called forat and he said 135 bucks to fix it all. I might charge the seller or I might have to return it. The guy from forat said that the fader and data wheel are sensitive and probably broke from shipment. The seller bubble wrapped the mpc around once and then put it in a cardboard box w/ no fragile sign on the box. Plus the vol knobs seem pushed in too. When I try to trim the sample, it doesnt work, plus the fader doesnt work, i pressed shift and tha "after" button and the screen pops up with a fader and when i move the fader... nothing.

I disagree with the guy at Forat on this one.
Any impact from UPS that would have damaged teh NV, DATA Wheel or even the Volume knob would have left obvious evidence on the shipping box.
Did you spin the DATA Wheel on the BPM like suggested?
The NV slider is very confusing because it doesn't just work there are unnecessary gyrations you have to go through before it will do anything.
Are you sure you understand how to use the NV slider?
If you really want to know if your NV is working give us the steps you are trying when you attempt to use it.
