quick question

is it necessary to have to be using a midi cable if you want your DAW to start recording all the tracks you have at one when syncing out or are 1/4 inch stereo cables sufficient? no keyboard is involved here. just mpc 1000 to audio interface>computer(pc)

Using midi to synch an mpc to a daw is only necessary when you have more tracks to record at once than you have outputs on your mpc.


So if you have a song with 12 components and only 6 outputs, you will need to go back and make sure that they synch up exactly when you are tracking out all 12 components (tracks).


Also, if your recording has a significant amount of tempo changes, then having a synch to record them is key as well.

hey thanks so much. so if i have a song with 6 tracks and i want to record all of them at once synced into cubase from the mpc 1000, could i still use a midi cable here to save time on the track out? thanks again for takin the time to answer my dumb questions.

If you have exactly 6 tracks, you can mono each track to a seperate output on the 1k, arm each track, then press record on your DAW, play on the mpc and record it.

But you will quickly see that you will need more than 6 tracks at some point. Plus this method is sloppy. I recommend learning midi synching your mpc to your DAW.


I have a tut specifically for cubase 4 and the 1k on a mac, but the same basic concept applies to other mpc's and daws as well.

yea im still trying to figure this out. ive actually seen your vid before and it was very helpful. i just have a pc and cubase LE so its a little different. ive been trying to track out in audition but im still workin on that . thanks.
