3000 vs 60

First and foremost I Loved my 60 MKI, as many others would agree, she was my baby...
Yet over tha past several months, and even more recently I've had a magnitude of issues wit my 60...
I've come to tha decision to put in tha closet for another day and scrap it for parts...
Thanks to my tax return check and Bush's buLL shit tax rebate...
im in tha market for a new baby, and here is where tha real question alies...
Do i stay 12-bit and get another 60 or do i step up to a 3000?
id appreciate insight from yall other users out there...?
i see pros and cons for both sides.
any input to help me sort this out?

The 3K can read 60 snds so...

"affordable" 3ks? Man, these things have almost surpassed the SP's. Don't know if you can still cop one in the US for less than 1500, but over here in Europe even the 60's go for more than 1000 right now. In no way they are affordable. No way...

Would have to agree, MPC3000's have dropped in price on ebay recently in some parts of the world,
although to get one in good condition your still looking at the higher end of the scale price wise.
With Vailixi 3.50 OS it gives you alot of new features like real time sample edit and compression,
which I would say can sound similar to a MPC60 and saves memory space at the same time...
Plus the MPC3000 has filters, 32mb of ram and scsi port which would probably make it the way to go...
In a way it's a bit of an upgrade from the MPC60...
Although I have both and wouldn't want to part with either....

If you get your money ready and keep an eye on Ebay daily, 3Ks come and go fairly regularly for between $800 & 1200 for the regular white one-

I just picked up a 3000LE for my boy on Craigslist for $1200.

Even without Vailixi 3.50 OS the 3k has advantages over a 60.
Learn to filter your drums a little bit and the 3k has a sound that's veryt similar but knocks harder.

Think about the fact the Dilla never got a chance to use the 3.5 OS...

P.S. Never put things on your MP that cover the vents...

In a battle between a 3000 and a 60, I would choose a 60.

I love the sound it has. I would consider the 4000 before the 3000 any day.

Your Lose! the 60 is not better than 3000. Dont fool yourself. Dont let those 26.2 seconds go to your head.

I consider these two classics as two sides of the same moon: old school.

You want grime? You have to put up with 26.2 secs. You want more sampling time? You're stuck with 16bits clarity. You make the choise. The machines can kill any beat the same, period.

PS Always making the comparison with 3.10 installed on the 60.

There is no 16 bit clarity on the 3k.
Once you learn the right filter settings the 3k makes you forget the 60 easily.
The 3k has more impact than the 60 and once you get use to using some rolloff the 3k sound comes off like a harder hitting 60.
