mpc 2000 destroying .snd and .wav files

so my mpc 2000 is ruining any sounds i load into it or sample into it randomly. i think i may have damaged some electronics. it has been giving me trouble since i hooked up my mpc to my dj mixer for sampling. what i did was i ran my turntable to the mixer ->dj mixer outs to mpc record ins -> mpc out to line in on my dj mixer -> 2nd pair of dj mixer outs to my recording interface on my computer... obviously i knew i was going to get some sort of feeback if i monitored the input from the mpc and had my cross fader in the middle. how ever since ive done this and since unhooked that setup my mpc has been ruining all my sounds. think i could have damaged some electronics by doing this? ive tried unplugging the mpc for a while.. ive tried a differnt os disk. no luck it continues to give me a problem... any ideas would be appreciated.

The first setup you describe was probably giving you a feedback loop, but what do you mean by "destroying"? Distorded sound , cliped or broken?

i know it was a feed back loop i was playing around with it by adjusting levels on the dj mixer to control the amount of feedback. once it ruins the files it either turns the sounds into white noise or just garble digital distortion.

Are you sure you have reconected it correclty after you took it of your mixer? Have you tried to listen to the samples through the headphone output of the mpc solely? Is it still doing it?

dodgy RAM is a major contributer to corrupted sound data.

i know that ram can cause that problem, but ive never had that problem in the past ive used that machine for over 5 years. but i guess it wouldnt hurt to try some other ram.

Usually faulty ram would make weird sounds like high pitched whining sounds coming out your outputs not changing your file names. Sounds like it i alittle more in depth then that.

i have since taken the 32 megs out and been running the mpc with it out it hasnt been doing it so im assuming maybe the ram just went out of the machine... ill have to do some more extensive testing tho.

hows everything with ur 2000 now? im thinking about copping one

i haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. but then again my 2000 is not my primary mpc. i use my 1000 on a regular basis.

update :
i have since re installed the same ram chips i was using previously just for the hell of it. the machine seems to be running as if no problem ever existed...very strange....
