Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I might be being stoopid so apologies but...
1) my internal flash RAM has disappeared - lost what was in it and now if I save to it, I never see my stuff again.
2) If I edit and then save a program, the changes aren't there when I reload it (using autoload or not) Even if I copy the program and save with different name, the changes have been lost when I re load.

This all started a few weeks ago. Running OS 1.11

I have reformatted the CF card, reset the machine, used a different CF card etc but nothing helps.

Anyone with similar problems or any ideas??

1) Is Autoload function set to off? Try setting it on and eject your memory card from MPC (or just rename the Autoload folder on the memory card to smth else) , then reboot it. You may save your stuff to Internal flash memory, but with Autoload function off it won't load in RAM when you boot the machine. Similarly, if Autoload is on, but you have an Autoload folder on your memory card, then when you switch MPC on, the contents of Autoload folder is loaded (not internal flash memory).

2) Are you sure you are loading the same program from the exact folder you saved it in? How do you save it (please describe the process)? Sometimes you may save a program as Program01. Then you place it in a folder. But if an older version of your Program01 is saved elsewhere, or in the root directory, you might end up loading it again and again. So, my recommendation is, connect MPC to a computer via USB and have a look for all the programs you have there.

And, finally, get OS 1.13 and update your MPC. It may help as well.

Regards!

Thanks for the quick response. I will check my settings etc.

Re OS 1.13 - are you sure this is an improvement over 1.11 - seems a lot of negative comments about it.

Thanks Again

Welcome!

I am pretty sure that OS 1.13 is better than 1.11. So far, I had no major issues like data losses, when using it. Actually, I had no issues with it at all (except the officially known bugs, like the Song mode "Insert before" bug and so on). I have nothing negative to say on 1.13. It is stable.

You have to use precautions, though, if your work is really important. Save Entire Memory regularly and back your memory card's contents to your computer's hard-drive once in a while.

The 1.13 is the same os as 1.11, but with most of the bugs fixed. It's better!

Brazeca,

Many thanks for your advice, seems my CF had become a bit of a mess and was confusing me and the mpc. I have upgraded to 1.13, removed the autoload folder and duplicate programs and re saved to flash. Now all is well.

Thanks a million.
