That's what I was thinking but sometimes the when you read things, it'll get you all nervous and what not......

My homeboy got 2500 and he's like "no fickin way!" and I'm like "yeah dude, BLUE!"

And he works for AKAI.....

according to the entrepreneur, it works best on os2.
haha and no this is not just an os2 plug.

i, of course, use jjos2. as soon as i dropped my screen in, i was able to adjust the contrast angle til it looked good. after the next jjos2 dropped, i installed it and i'm good to go.

hahaha of course he'd be afraid to get inside his mpc...he works for akai, after all. he'd probably fk something up in there accidentally. he may even try to blame it on the japanese!

^^^ crack up, it must just be a 2500 user thing too i reckon, i got a mate with a 2500 who's had it for years and has never taken the face off or nothin, he took it to a repairer just to get his mode button replaced! I don't even think they replaced it, i think they must have just moved it around a bit coz it's still fukt.
if i could i'd compare the LCD from my 1k with his but theres no chance.

^^^ someone on the 2500 forum had to have taken their's apart and posted pics a while back. i'll try and do a search. hopefully others will search as well.

my screen should arrive on tuesday, according to my tracking number. can't wait to pull out that ugly ass green screen and store it in a box with the rest of my old parts i replaced.

^^ don't worry, you won't break anything. just be careful with the ribbon connector and make sure the buttons are lined up correctly when putting the housing back on.
i remember when i installed my black housing, i broke my numeric button. so i ordered a few extras incase i need them in the future.

I just picked up a 2500 and the blue 1000 screens are not interchangeable. I kind of wish this post came out a few days earlier... I am however looking into building a few of these in the future. PM me.

BTW, the actual build quality on the 2500 is very impressive. Thicker gauge wire throughout and built like a tank. Only grip is the Data Wheel, I totally prefer the 1000's version. Other than that, the price difference seems just.

Just ordered the blue screen and some LEDs... just need to get the new pads and then I'll have a really flashy mpc 1000.

What are you going to do with the LEDs?? Place them in the [bank] LEDs??
Just curious about this. I would get them because the green is getting boring.... just don't know where to put them.

I'll be getting out my soldering iron and replacing the bank/window/undo LEDs at least. Might make them all blue. The green/Red LEDs are kind of boring.

NearTao or anyone looking into the LED's. Before you solder them to your boards know that the current flows in one direction. The contacts coming off the LED are 2 different lengths, a positive and a negative, so you can tell them apart. I will try to post a tutorial this weekend. I'd rather kill 100 LED's on my MPC before you kill one.

THIS ISN'T COMMON PRACTICE (at your own risk), but... once you remove the original green LED (I would start with the Q-link, believe me, it is the least expensive board to replace - thanks Michael), you can dry fit the LED in place by bending the contacts away from one another. Screw the board back in place, then fire the machine up and click the qlink button to see if it works, if not, reverse the LED, try it again. Once again... THIS ISN'T COMMON PRACTICE (at your own risk). When removing the original LED, make sure to get a clean contact. I use a mini-file or a small nail file to clean any old solder off.

Currently I have blue in place of all the green, pink/purple where the red was and a white in place of the yellow. Looks like the 4th of July.

It's really easy to replace LEDs. If the PCBs are marked positive and negative, then it's even easier. The best and easiest way to replace them is with a desolderding iron.
If I had a camcorder, I'd make a video. Maybe I'll bring my MPC over to my brother's house when it's time to replace the LEDs and have him record it so I can post it on youtube.
