yes, sure - but everytime i cut i only get silence. then in the 2nd try i cant move the start-end times any more. the song i recorded is 4:13 on 2 tracks, but on smaller tracks there is also only a silence track. after doing this i can move the start-end times.

Also, Auditioning the Synth Presets some how would be nice as well, before you load a Synth preset that you wouldnt want loaded up

Askia - Are any of these bugs catastrophic to your workflow?

Boele - Are any of them being addressed by Akai yet?

Cheers.

Another BUG!!! Big One

When your using external racks, Soon as you hit play or stop it changes the volume on the midi channel (racks) to 127 making it impossible to mix the tracks. With Our setup, we are running three modules thru each other, (ex. fantom rack ch 1-6, motif 7-12 and so on) and we cant even work because if 1A is selected, it turns all racks track 1 to 127.

The 5000 has 4 midi outs. Why would you chain modules together (creating midi latency) when each can have it's own output (i.e. 16 midi channels each)? Do you have the unused midi channels on each module disabled?

The Reason Why, is because we have 7 other keyboards, and we use vi's. Even if we didnt, you still cant mix the volumes on the modules even if they were on their own ports. Try to make a track and you have a sound too loud that needs to be turned down!!! you'll loose your vibe.

Co-sign

I experienced this last night as well, with using some VI's and the MicrogKorg(as well as this issue, when you mute the midi track, you could still here the lower end of the track when muted) on two seperate MIDI Channels. You would just get a spike in volume even when you try to cut it down, I had to cut it down on the mixer and work with it that way.

Just got back from LIMS (london international music show) had a very quick play with the demo mpc5000 there (not sure which os though), and I can confirm that programs I've made in mpcEditor and the XL do not load - individual samples do, it just cannot seem to read the old PGM format.

Yeah, i have already spoken with Akai on this issue, and they entered it into the next update because my MPC 2000 XL pgms wouldnt load the day I got my machine.... and I was pissed, I thought i was doing something wrong

Not yet but I haven't really dug into all the nooks and crannies of the MPC5K. I have just moved into my new place in Tokyo and just got my MPC, keyboard, PC, etc.

Well....now that I am settled and fired up my MPC 5000 again...I have issues with creating my first beat. I loaded some drum samples I had in a folder. I trimmed a decayed kik drum and use the Amp envelope to smooth out the end of the sample. Next, I tried to create a simple 4 bar drum look. I pressed record/play and started hitting the pads. The metronome played for two bars and then just stopped. The MPC 5K froze at that point. The record and play buttons stayed lit. The only solution was to reboot the MPC.

Please note that I had the MPC 5K turned on for a few hours with no activity prior to creating this track. From using the MPC 5K for a short period of time, I can say that this machine is not ready to be used live.

At a second attempt of creating a track....I put in an audio CD to sample from. I go to the sample record menu to play back the track I wanted to sample. As the track played, I hit the MPCs pads to play the drum kit I had preloaded. But when I hit the pads, the drums sounds trigger a fraction of second later. Essentially, I can not play the pads effectively while a CD is playing.....

Hmm, I've been using my 5000 in a live duo with the machine on for 5 hours without issue. And sometimes I play along with a CD to practice a beat more accurately. It's probably not really designed with that in mind, not sure why you'd wanna play the pads while you're sampling a CD. But, haven't had a problem doing that either. Does this stuff happen everytime for you?
