I created that tutorial. I know those aren't J Dilla patterns. I had a few other people mention that and I should have been more specific. The point of the tutorial was to show how he came up with the wide drum effect used in songs like Jaylibs "The Red".

why yall try to immitate someone else or be like someone else? do u. cause u cant and u wont be j dilla, pete rock, alc, premo etc. u can use the same techniques they use, but u still wont achieve the sound they achieve. why? because u dont think like dilla, pete, alc, premo etc. its not the machine, its the man behind it. plus all great producers got skilled people (engineers, musicians etc) around them.

i hate when people buy an mpc3000 and this they're goin to sound like dilla.

I agree in a way but also its good to have someone to look up to. You should always want to refine your craft and that is what I do every time I listen to music. I pick it apart and see what that producer did and try to incorporate it into what I do. It's ok because like you said, its not the hardware, software, or samples; it's the person. So, so what if I steal a little Dilla, 9th Wonder, and Timabaland. I'll never sound like those three, but I'll sound like me.

yet some rythmic patterns are... in an ABSOLUTE (non relative world) better then some others... when u focus on rythms... u kinda hear a song and get the effect.. then its DIFFICULT to ''not bite''

^^Dude I know exactly what u saying , dont worry bout the dumbass comments in this thread cause most the producers on this board are so far up their own ass that in their own weird way they dont actually want u to learn anything... maybe its coz they wanna feel like they better than u? I'm not sure.... as far as I'm concerned learn whatever the **** u wanna learn... take anyones style... take bits and peices of other styles combine it and experiment .... I know u arent saying u wanna straight out bite dilla but sum ppl respond before they even think

Lets be honest .... if ur learning sumthing u didnt previously know then u can only be IMPROVING not making things worse... correct? .. nuff sed
