help with installing 1.14. thnx

I got tired of messing around w. iffy card readers so i went ahead and bought the kit from VST.

but first im trying to install os 1.14. I dled it off the akai site, and put the file on a floppy. When i go to load it, it comes up as question marks.....



on the reference manual it shows update files showing up as mpc200xl.exe.


any ideas? thnx guys, i cant wait to be done w. floppy disc mayham

o yeh, its a mpc2000xl

Is it compressed still? When you downloaded the file, could you see the .exe file on your computer

Also, I Think you have to hold something down when you are loading up your MPC, so it cant get the update off of the floppy

should just be able to place the bin file on a zip of CF card, ive never done it with a floppy, im sure the proceedure must be similar.

yeh i unzipped it first and put the bin file by itself on the floppy.

let me know if you figure out what button to push.

sh!t this is killin me. I must be missing somthing easy. Has anyone here upgraded to 1.14 using floppy before?


also, when u install a mcd w.out upgrading should it still recognize it?

turns out the disk i was using was just corrupt.... exact reason i was upgrading anyways. lol
