Saving a beat

I am new to mpc. have a2500. I just made a beat, but am unsure how to save to memory card. do I have to make it a song first and if so how. The last time I tried to save a beat it was lost.

Best option is to use "save entire memory".It saves your sequences,pgms,samples.It's all in your manual.....

actually it is in the manual addendums found on the akai website, because some functions were not in the original os 1.01 and so they are not mentioned in the printed manual - unless they included an updated manual with later shippings which i doubt...

selecta jo is right, the owner manual doesn't explain how to burn a CD on the MPC2500.

I've had the "Save entire memory" function fail a few times. I've found this way to be super reliable. Go to the save screen, go to save all programs and samples, switch to yes for create new folder, title it, hit do it. Then select save all seq & songs, title it, hit do it. This automatically drops the all seq & songs into the same folder that you created for all programs & samples.
*** Here's a good rule of thumb...before you turn off the MPC, go to the load screen and ensure that the saved folder is there with the all & seq files in it, this will save yo ufrom banging your head against a wall when you load it up and find that no seq's were saved***

thanks to all that replied. dablunt and dj chuck norris really gave some good info. When I "save entire memory" I still ended up losing something. I did read the manual, still couldn't get it right. Thanks for the website link about burning too.
