So, I decided to go the software and controller route. I moved away from using the MPC-1000 and am now using a macbook pro, battery 3, logic, MPD24 and microkorg. I am currently redesigning my workflow and have many questions in regards to suggestions from other people who are doing similar things. Right now, I am mainly focusing on the workflow for my drums. I do a combination of finding drum breaks/loops and chopping the individual drum hits and playing them by hand on the MPD. One thing that I miss from using the MPC itself is note repeat (mainly for doing rolls and things of that nature). Any suggestions here? I am finding that there are so many options inside of Battery that am often overlooking things. So any help here would be appreciated in either the specific question I asked or anything else that will help me get back on track using this new setup. Thanks in advance guys.
