Loading MPC60, 60II, and 3000 sounds on the 2000XL

Yiddy-Yo.
My manual says I can load up disks containing sounds, sequences and
.SET info from the older machines (60, 60II, 3000).
However, when I load the disks in, they come up as "format: ??"
And I know it's not the disks.

they are probably HD (high density) disc and they should be DD (double density disk) just place a piece of scotch tape over the hole on the right hand side of the disc and it will read it.

I guess the newer drives don't recognize old azz disks, huh?

No, it is because they were the wrong type to use in the first place.

Someone used HD in a DD machine, which assumes all disks are DD. Newer machines, i.e. XL, do care (as they should).
