mpc 1000 hard disk corrupt?

Hey, I have a blue mpc 1000, i put a hiatchi travelstar for it a couple of years ago and it worked great! but now for some anytime i hook it up to my laptop the mpc kind of freezes and the drive doesn't appear on the computer. I have tried formatting the drive, when i do this the 'Formatting.......' screen comes and stays there and it appears like the unit isn't doing anything, though i can hear the hdd spinning.

Any opinions, could it be a corrupt dhh??

did you bump or drop it recently?

if so, maybe open it up and check the hard drive is still seated correctly...

check the connections anyway, could be something simple...

You said your laptop is not recognizing the harddisk. You mean in the bios right?
If the cables are fine then its properly broken.

Not all BIOSes support USB-booting. And with the MPC that's kinda irrelevant.

If you're not running the JJ OS nor the latest Akai OS try formatting with them, reboot your pc and when mounting the mpc give it some extra time and see if it's still not working.

An Hitachi travelstar is not an USB harddisk.

Cheers I'll try open her up and have a look, i was thinking of taking the hard disk out of the mpc, putting it in a USB surround, plug it into my computer and formatting it from there
