os2 RAM issues

Just installed OS2 and the MPC is only seeing a quarter of the RAM (i.e. 4MB of the original 16MB installed)... anyone got any ideas why this is happening? Apologies if this has been discussed before, been trawling through the forums the last 2 hours and boy am i tired... at least no-one can say RTFM on the JJ forum

Well, the JJOS probably needs more RAM to run than the AKAI OS, since it has got a truckload more of features. You should consider buying a RAM upgrade!

JJOS v2 does use nearly 12mb of memory before samples. This is to make room for the 3x larger number of midi notes, more programs and plenty of other features. You'll either want to return back to the akai os or get a RAM upgrade.

cheers for the replies, didn't realise JJ used the MPC's RAM in addition to flash memory... was intending to get the EXM anyway but now it's a priority
