Fantastic Planet (madlib/quasimoto)

Somebody on the IGN boards posted this. It's the movie that inspired alot of art from the Quasimoto albums/singles and the movie's soundtrack provided samples for such tracks as Quas's "Come on Feet", MED's "Place Your Bet", and Big Pun's "Boomerang". The soundtrack is insane and the movie, while slow, is interesting.

alain goraguer is a real genius ! i have that soundtrack and it's actually one of the only vinyl i listen frequently . too bad it's scratched

yeah that flik is bugged out,, in a good way, soundtrack is great

it belonged to my parents and all the records they have are really common so i don't think it's rare or anything
it seems that there was a reedition in 2005 with a different cover
you have to search for the name in french "la planete sauvage"

it's not exactly a common record - og copies routinely go for a buckshot ($100) or so...
the og has a gatefold cover, while the reissue has not...
(it may be more common in europe, as it was released on a french label )

Yeah, V.I.C. of the beatnuts discussed it in the Making of Capital Punishment article in XXL. Apparently it was re-released off the strength of it being sampled by them

Edit (from the article): "It's a real rare record, I got it ou in Boston from a record collector there, Bob Gibson. He was selling the record for $200 and I just traded him. Actually, from what I heard, based on the popularity of Pun's record, they put out the movie again in France. And it's funny, because we never cleared the sample." He then goes on to say that it's a unique beat in that it changes up every six bars instead of 4 or 8.

damn...I've seen that record (the rerelease I guess) a few times, but never bought it.

j saul kane's DC records made an official re-release of that in like 2001 or so...

I found a copy of the DVD movie at my local library. It's an interesting movie. The music is dope, but I found it kind of annoying listening to basically the same musical motif running throughout the entire length of the movie.
