problem w. installing vST MCD kit in 2000xl

- i already upgraded my os to 1.14


i have the drive installed and it lights up when i cut the power on.

But when i go to the load menu. it doesnt show up.

What should i be scrolling to under device? because ADPI isnt even on the list.

You need to upgrade the os to 1.20 to get the MCD running.

I think you need to upgrade to the 1.20 os for the MCD on the XL.



NO you do not need to upgrade. There are tons of us using OS 1.14 with MCD from VST & no problems.

Check your cables again trust me you didn't push something in or plug something up all the way.

I see, i use the 1.14 os myself but have the access to an PC with a floppy drive at the moment. so I was thinking about upgrading to 1.20. Does it have any advantages or new feauters compared to 1.14?

It is only if your CF cards are over 1GB otherwise there is no real advantage.

I think so yeah...

My friend had the same problem because he had just disconnected the floppy drive and connected the ribbon cable to the card reader. He had forgotten to use the other slot on the mainboard for the ribbon cable connected to the card reader.

I upgraded to OS1.20 because I had a 1GB card. With 1.14 I needed to make two 512MB partitions. With 1.20 you have partitions up to 1GB.

I use 1GB SD Cards & 1GB CF Cards and I still use 1.14 with no problems that's wierd.

I bought my MCD Kit from MPCStuff.com (I'm sure they're both the same drive) and installed it with no problem. I upgraded to OS 1.20, but after the drive was installed, so it will recognize and read with OS 1.14. I used this video (from MPCStuff.com) to install my drive. Maybe it'll work for you.

you could be making music instead of tryin to boss people around like youre some mpc god

maybe youd have 16337 beats instead of forums posts if you werent ridin your own nuts 24/7
