Acapella over beats

How do I get an acapella jus to play over my beats, not necessarily record at this point but just to see how they sound. All im working with is a turntable set up whos mixer hooks up to the mpc and both are played through a regular stero reciever...

learn the art of beatmatching dawg. Every word the MC speaks is percussive. Sort out your snare timing, then his/her general line of rapping, then merge dem shits together. Remeber to increase or decrease pitch proportionally. Most hip hop is between 90 and 100bpm.

If you got pro tools, the shit is easy. If you **** wit just the mpc sample every couple bars of the acapella or if your gangsta ride it the acapella straight from the vinyl over your sequence, theres a couple ways to do it.

u can do it ghetto like me and play the vocals out of ur computer speakers and play the beat out of ur monitors or speakers hooked up to ur mpc...

I just did this yesterday.. Sampled the verses to the mpc one at a time and put each verse on a pad.
Then I put the beat on, and just pressed the pad when it was time for the verse. (since I don't have a multitrack or anything I just record my beats straight from the mpc---> hifi amp---> minidisk recorder)

It's ghetto but it works!

cheech did you chop it into like every 4 bars? Cause my sample time is only 10 seconds. Is there also anyway that I can hook the mpc into one of the channels on my dj mixer n put the fader at the middle so both play, I tried this but the mpc plugs didnt fit.

Pawn, I think it's time to get that 32mb memory upgrade doggy... jk
You can connect the main outs of the mp to the dj mixer and to do this you need 1/4" to RCA that you can get at guitar center.

Only ten seconds? Don't you have the memory upgrade?

Keep in mind that sampling in mono doubles up your sampling time.

But if your sample time is only 10 seconds then you obviously can't sample the whole acapella, no matter how you chop it..

I simply sampled the first verse, put it on a pad, then sampled the second verse and put it on a pad, then sampled the third verse etc..
Then I just put the beat on and pressed a pad when it was time for the verse.

well you need to determine the bpm of the song u are doing. which
i am sure u did.
make sure you drop the vocals in at the right time.
you will probably have to use the pitch on the turntable to keep[ it on track.
it is not the easiest thing to do when u start out.

yo, ive done a few remixes with just my mpc and a turntable. the verses are long ass samples! (never saved em, just burned to disk)
