Hello everyone... First time poster long time troll type deal here..

Anyways I midi 8 bar sequences via fl studio with random vsts...

Since it's in fl studio, there's no need to worry about trimming or anything because it loops whatever information has been put down, so as long as you dont go over the 8 bars your fine....

I convert each midi sequence to it's own .wav file

I pop them into my mpc 1000 with jj os2 1.15

I make a drum program and assign each .wav file to it's own pad...

So basically I end up with 8 bar guitar loop on a01, 8 bar bass line on a02 and so on....

I have another program for the drums where I layer alot of them to the max (3 slots total per pad for jjos2)

Then I set my sequence in the mpc to 16 bars, and trigger each of the instrument pads at 1 and 9 of the 16 bars....

On os 1 it worked fine.... I would just record track mutes in and out and get a nice progression and change up flow going on....

But with os2 when I just want to play 8 bars then mute the next 8 of the sequence it fades out very slow.... So it's hard to get a cold cut effect if I need it... Almost like there's some fade function on my samples...

Anyways i used to search function but couldn't find anything worthwhile...

I appreciate anyone who reads my ramblings.... haha

Seriously now electrik?? You gonna give me some sass??

I can understand the default envelope settings being changed...

What I cannot understand, is why the hell the DEFAULT settings would be set to where my 8 bar sample FINALLY cuts out after FADEOUT at around 12 bars....

A 4 bar default fadeout envelope setting??? If this is the case......

Don't they know they're building this O.S. for an MPC???

You know, a piece of equipment most people use to CHOP AND GET EXACT SAMPLES??

I mean tell me if i'm wrong.... Maybe people like sloppy samples?? Maybe people want EVERY DAMN SAMPLE to fadeout 4 bars after it's supposed to stop??

Is that the new style??

I dunno. Just the only idea I had really, but I believe there's a disclaimer somewhere that OS2 isn't meant to run OS1 programs. Might be possible by re-tweaking parameters (like the ENV) but it could just be a basic incompatibility. What you are getting may not be a "default" as you put it but just the way OS2 interprets OS1 program data.

That could be the case except that I built these drum programs in os2...

First I was having trouble with samples muting eachother out.... I searched around and I believe that problem was caused by me using up all 32 voices of polyphony availalbe...

I was using os1 when that was happening.... I read the spec sheet comparing os1 to os2 and found os1 to have 8 available audio tracks and os2 a whopping 32!!! I upgraded thinking that my samples wouldn't mute eachother out anymore (really weird muting too, like 4 bars into an 8 bar sample it will cut out... or 8 bars into a 16 bar sample...)

Now I seem to be ok with the samples muting eachother.... But now the samples are TOO LONG....haha...

I was just hoping for some whimsical know all dude to come in here and say something like "fl studio has a known 16 wav converting issue where the samples mute eachother out" or something similar....haha....

Thanks for the info elektrik, I appreciate the help

check this:

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2/adsr_amp_e.htm

are they one shot samples your using? they do decay differntly in os 2.

also check that you have mute of one shot samples set to: immediate (track mute screen :window button).
your default setting might have changed when you switched os.
this will silence one shots immediately when you mute tracks.

Awesome advice Mikolo, good looking out.

It seems as though that will work.... It's just.... I dunno.... Maybe I'm just being overly picky...

I checked the asdr settings and end decay is off on all my samples....

And don't get me wrong, the method you gave me works mikolo....

It's just that in os1 you could have a sample triggered on bar 1 of 8.... And then if you knew you only wanted 8 bars you could basically mute the track again right after you let it trigger... It would play the entire sample AND cut off at the end of the 8 bars...

I guess it would help if I explain that my main way of creating music involves setting up a 16 bar overall sequence on the mpc with 8 bar instrument and drum tracks. Basically just let the 16 bars loop over and over on the mpc, muting and unmuting the 8 bar tracks to bring in specific elements...

With the immediate setting you can't pull that off, makes muting tracks basically precision timing.... Have to mute the track on bar 8 right at the end of it.... Makes muting 4 or 5 tracks at once difficult...

Thanks for the help guys!

So yeah I was going to edit my last post but its so damn long already....

After reading the fine print on the page Mikolo linked, I read that if your sample is in LOOP MODE that the end of decay setting turned OFF would REPEAT the loop INDEFINITELY.... or in my case 4 extra bars until the sound deteriorated ..

So I had to go into trim mode and hit f4 for each of my samples to turn loop off..... I guess that's where it's messed me up... Because it automatically sets the sample to loop and the adr default setting for end of decay is off... So it would just fade a bit...

Anyways it worked and thanks for the collective help on that one elektrik and mikolo...

But now I'm having this same damn issue with tracks still cutting eachother out....

And it seems to be only happen when I have a few double kicks... Or when I drop a deep sub kick in there (808)....

Any ideas on that one guys???
