Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

i have a Korg Trintity and the problem i'm having is i play pattern on one track into the mpc2000XL and then i want to over lay it with another sound but everytime i try to play another sound over the current my keyboard acts retarded and erases the other sound or it wont let me lay the next sound over it..i look on my (korg) screen and its constantly changing the sounds around in it..i'm like wtf so right now i can only play one sound/pattern per song cuz i cant get past this problem and the sequences always sound likethey are missing something, which they are...someone help me please

heres some info on how i have it all hooked up too

Korg: MIDI IN/OUT = MPC: MIDI IN/OUT
KORG: 1AUDIO OUT 1AUDIO OUT = MIXER 1IN/2IN

I THINK THATS RIGHT SO WTF IS GOING ON? I WATCH CATS ON YOUTUBE PLAY MULTIPLE SYNTHS/PIANOS ETC OVER EACHOTHER WITH NO PROBLEM..

i am runing the triton, roland d-110, jv-1080, e-mu proteus2000, e-mu virtuoso, and a kurzweil k2000r. all on the mpc. thats why you see more than just the 2 cables. im using both midi A and midi B on the xl to control all of the units above. heres what it looks like

no you daisy chain them using the through ports. heres my set.

mpc out A: triton through: virtuoso through: proteus2000
triton out: mpc in 1
mpc out B: k2000r through: jv1080 through: d-110
pc's midi out to the mpc in 2

i run it like this for versatility. i dont always use all the module's at once. but they are all hooked up so i can do insane layers if i want to. i could assign chanels on one unit to do the layering but this way it leaves all my chanels open on each seperately. it would probably make more sense for me to get a 4000 but im in a life long relationship with my XL.
you could probably get a motu midi interface but you still only got 32 midi tracks if you are using the mpc to control it all. the motu's are designed for a DAW where you have 128 tracks availible.
