mpc 2000xlhard disk

i am newbee in the mpc world so i have some questions

i want to install a hard disk into my mpc 2000 xl
how may i do it
?

Generally speaking, you don't want to install a SCSI hard drive inside the XL - the power supply cannot support the power drain and the XL was not built for an internal hard drive heat-wise. I have heard of people installing a notebook 2.5" hard drive but that will require an IDE-to-SCSI adapter card (slow and not cheap), as well as some degree of customization capability on your part. I don't believe I've ever seen a turn-key kit for doing this type of installation.

This is why you see so many people talking about installing zip drives and card reader drives in the place of their floppy drives - those are easy options to install and provide decent storage. Card Reader drives are very reliable and make no noise during operation. My personal opinion of zip drives is not good but many people swear by them.

not true at all. installation is simple. even easier if you dont have a 8out card installed. power is sufficient and install only requires you to rewire the power. or you could just buy the cable for power from vst or mpcstuff. heres the part you need. 50pin scsi to 80pin scsi adaptor. or you could track down a 50pin drive. but they are small and cost alot. 80 pin drives are cheap and big.

I got a 9Gb laptop HD in my 2000XL and a SCSI card reader. Really easy to do. Just follow the steps.
Saving to the HD is way faster than to a memory card.
