has anyone perfectly synced the 1k to protools LE yet?

for some reason it doesn't perfectly sync

i still have to slightly move the wave files recorded or it'll clip the first few milliseconds

macbook pro 2g ram, mbox 2, pt le 7.3 , mpc1000 jj os

I record space for the first four bars, either record the first sequence twice and trim it off, or if you are just recording one sequence and not a song, record it twice and trim the second one. It starts recording with a little lag like a belt driven turntable, using MMC has less latency than MIDI Clock but neither is perfect. So I just give it about 4 bars of nothing to begin with so it can all sync up good. The first downbeat is never going to be perfect. You could also play around with pre-roll or turn your buffers down, but when multitracking I like to have my buffers high to prevent drop outs and other performance related issues and it seems to be working so far. Let me know what you have tried or if this solves it?

You can also adjust the offset, but I have never been able to get it 100% on. Then again I use the MPC as the master sequencer, it may have better timing in Pro Tools if you use Pro Tools as the master? I just arm Pro Tools and press play start on the MPC. If you find a better solution let me know man. I have the same setup, except I have a MacBook 2.0 (Intel dual core), 2GB RAM, MBox 2, PT LE 7.3. I was doing a video project and had to adjust the offset of the MTC and frame rate. Is the frame rate of the MPC and Pro Tools identical?

Yea Pro Tools isn't my DAW of choice either but it works. My main DAW is Cubase, but for compatibility purposes I have to have Pro Tools to conduct business with some clients.

Cubase used to be my DAW of choice as well, until it became too unreliable. Then I moved on to Nuendo, which was always more stable. But now it's time that I move on to Ableton Live 7, since I'm working on so many different types of music, and it's more suitable for everything (including tracking out from my MPC and the rest of my MIDI hardware).
So I like to think of it as the Swiss Army Knife of DAWs. Now I gotta get on the learning curve and also buy a new audio interface.

Oh yeaaahh! Ableton is definitely "the" DAW. The only reason I dont use it as a DAW is because I dont know how, haha. I used to do a lot of production using Ableton Live 3, I think it was? Then this producer told me a couple years ago he uses it as a mixer, like a DJ. Then I met another guy that uses it as a DAW/production suite. So I put 2 and 2 together and realized that the software must be really flexible and user friendly (tutorial is built in). So now I am intimidated by Ableton Live 7 and refuse to use it for some odd reason (makes me feel like I am cheating?)? Ableton is the DAW that a lot of people are in need of and dont know it. Anyone reading this if you get a chance (and haven't already) demo it, watching someone else use it (tutorials) wont do it justice. I also fell in love with the way it handles audio with the time warp function, similar to the way the Fantom handles audio (who had it first, hmmm?).

^^^ Yeah I'm feelin' that. For the past 3 years or so, I've been avoiding the learning curve involved with Ableton Live. All of the software's terminology is entirely different than what I've known from using Cubase and Nuendo over the past 10 years. So every time I've tried Ableton, I never bothered to spend more than 15 minutes with it before deciding not to learn it (even with all it's built-in tutorials). So now I'll just have to be patient and get on with having to learn a new DAW all over again. It'll be worth it in the long run. Alot of people in these forums say it's so easy to learn. I'm sure they're right. I just gotta adjust.

learning abeltons a peace of cake there is even a forum with like 60 replies on abelton tips thats where i learned to track with ableton 7 and i got say its frame rate is the exact same thing as the mpcs so yea shiznit

really? i haven't heard much hype on ableton, i only know one dude that uses it. I throw my stuff down on either Sonar, Reaper or Logic, Logic being the least prefered, but i still use it sometimes for some strange reason.
Will have to check out ableton now though with this sort of talk. I have seen it used live with a m-audio pad controller for track mutes and stuff, the dude ripped it.

That's good to hear. I never bothered with MTC, due to the issues involved. But since it's tight with Ableton, I'm gonna check it out when I learn all the basics.

cuabse is the only DAW ive ever had solidly working when synced or slaved to the mpc.

i just sample stereo loops and trim and arrange in the box. wasted to much time trying to get it sync'd solid with ableton.

Once you get it down its like second nature.
