Chopping in the 1000

I recently read an article and learned that you can chop a sample up in the mpc2k. That is a function that will split the sample up. Is that functionality also possible in the mpc1k, which is what I have. Thanks

It is possible to manually chop, just sample, save the sample, trim the part you want, rename it. Load up the original, trim the next piece you want, name that one, load up the original agian, etc. etc. Takes longer but it CAN be done.

what about cool edit pro/adobe audition?

I know Adobe has a split functionality, but I dont know how well that works. I assume recycle is better for chopping then Adobe audition. But that going off what I have read about recycle.

Can someone lay this down in a easy to understand tuturial for me. I am considering making a purchase so b4 I break the bank I want to be confident in my ability to manually chop cuz the mpc1000 doesnt have zoning.

There's an easier way on the MPC 1000: load the original sample, select the drum hit (just eye it) and select Edit and Extract to new sample. This way, you don't have to keep loading the original sample over again. Personally, I use Sound Forge's Auto Region feature to chop drum beats. I've never used the MPC 2000xl, but from what I understand, it only chops evenly across the sample. This is useless if you have a syncopated drum beat. Sound Forge actually analyzes the wave form to create regions of drum hits. With a little practice, doing this manually in the MPC 1000 is no big deal.

im still confused as to how to make certain parts of slices repeat themsevles like they did on that demo on the hiphopproduction.com site..
is the main way to it with the mpc to chop a beat into seperate parts and load them on seperate pads and tap the parts out as needed?? is that basically what this is??

If your talkin abou the Video Tutorial, Thats an XL and They are Using an XL. The 1000 has no Zones, So you need to chop up the neat either is Software or in the 1K. Then assign the chops to differ pads.
