I got issues too. I'm not rich but I'm white.... that's a mark against me already and you ain't know me?? But anyway, I worked my tail off during the week on my 40hr+ job, raise a six year old lil homie, and have a wife... If I want to put a blue screen and black pads in my MPC... I do it. Would I see Preme with with this, you got me... No. I got a homeboy that works for Akai and they (he) gave Preme an MPC 2500 when they first dropped but he still rocks the MPC 2KXL. Hasn't even taken the new unit out the box... But Preme's 2KXL looks busted. But that's how he wants you to see it... is that customized? No.. but that is still how he wants you to see it and so it's now customized to his liking (so to speak). What about hot studios? Have you see some of them? Dudes talk about big studios that have more flat screens than your average spot or competition down the block....
You come in my office you will see the equipment that I have looks normal... but what I use to create most this stuff looks nice and pimped [although I hate that word 'pimped'] thats how i want you to see my ish... Does it make my beats sound hotter??... HELL NO... but I love making it...

im a supporter of unique style with everything that has a good reason for clothes cars assets that are ment to be showed off, electric guitar used for live performances sure thats looks nice.

but me as a home producer thinking about everything i can do inorder to get to my goal of being a producer buying a blue screen or black pads would contradict .

and note im talkin about people in my situation you get me? if your already balling with a huge studio and your picking out the color of your studio carpet THEN OK thats when id pick out hte color for the screen of my mpc

but if your anythin like in my situation where finance is a problem a screen or black pads is just really not on your mind at this stage its just ridiculous, and thats my point

If it works, it is pretty silly to 'fix' it. Definitely the pad upgrade is a better investment than the lcd/led's. I did enjoy myself putting in a new display and led's.

Stating your opinion on whether you like the pads (and the price of them) ain't a problem. But to tell someone what they shound and shouldn't do with their money and their gear is NOT the reason why this topic exists, nor will it be acceptible.
I don't need a simple topic which is providing information to turn into a 10 page rant.
So if you got nothing else to do but **** and moan, I suggest you keep it moving somewhere else.

J is right imo, if i work long enough on a piece of gear/software i dont really see how it looks anymore. And comparing it to clothes and cars is plain ridiculous.. but to each its own i guess.

Not the best photoshop job I've ever done, but here's my vote for the pink MPC 1000... now it just needs glitter and hello kitty stickers!
