Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey peeps,

Just got myself a 2000 classic. For some reason when i turn the mpc on it asks me for the MPC Floppy disk. When i put it in it all loads fine but when i take the disk out and turn the mpc off and then back on it asks me for it again.

Why is this and what do i need to do?

Thanks!

Thats usual operation for the MPC2000 classic, one of the upgrades on the XL was that the OS was loaded into flash ram so you didn't need a floppy everytime you turned the machine on where on the 2K classic the OS is loaded into ram so it's lost when you power down

I tied it as it says in the manual and it wouldn't boot that way. Always needed the floppy. Still its going to be sold anyway.

Then you didn't put the right files on the disc. The only time I've ever booted my 2K from floppy was to test and make sure the floppy worked. Other than that, it has always been Jaz cart of CF disk for me.

Peace,

Just checked,

Ive only got the XL manual. I haven't got the pdf of the classic either. Can anyone point me towards it?

Do you copy the two files MPC2000.exe and the MPC2000 sys?

Its on my zip scsi Id 5 as saved in save OS.

It sees the zip on boot up but still asks for a system disc.

I thought Id tried it before like that but with no manual to check thought it was me.

Read the manual pg 146 and no joy. Anyone got any ideas?

Sorted now. Its because the 2000 classic can't boot from a PC formatted disc. :D

Im very happy now.
