Ah! I just answered my own question by clicking around on the site a bit...I think I may do this...it's pretty cool and is way better than the lame skins at mpcstuff...

oh, I'm sure I am! The first time I checked out the site, it was all out of whack...I forgot about it and haven't tried it on months. It seems like you can come up with some pretty tight stuff if you mess around with it... so has no one tried it?

ok, theres been a few updates to it. but i'm waitng to post pics until it is all complete.

if you can looka at the pics above and imagine this...

i'm putting in a blue lcd screen when it arrives.

i will be puttin in black pads when they arrrive.

(i've already bought both the screen and pads but shipping from america to northern ireland is always a bytch, usually a couple of weeks. fuk usps)

i got black f1-f6 buttons from mpcstuff.com.

i've used high density double acrylic matt black paint to paint the step buttons, main, tap tempo, next seq, track mute and erase buttons. i swear the paint is that good you would truly think it was black plastic.

i decided to leave the play, start, and stop buttons alone beacause they are generic to all models and colours of mpcs including all LE versions.

other things i want to do is replace the leds, it may not seem like it but a white mpc, with blue screen, balck pads - the green led look really out of place. however i will be leaving it to a proffessional to replace them, after the lcd incident, i just on't got the cahonies to start pullin out more cables in this machine. the sad things is i expect nothing but 200% quality of workmanship from myself and others (i'm a tradesman), when i was painting the all the buttons, sliders and cf surround, i took my time and done it right and the job turned out perfect, i couldn't be more happy with it, but i let myself down with the lcd, pulling too hard on the idc caused the connector to snap. oh well i gave it a shot.

i'm stuck in a rut as far as the data wheel , rec and volume gain knobs, was thinks bout painting them a metallic black aswell as the side panels, but i don't know if i have the confidence to remove them! anybody have expierience with that?

^ Im feeling the look man! I love custom sh*t. Question is that the overlay from MPCstuff or did you paint it white?

you simply need to remove the top panel then pull off the knobs.

Looks ill man! Modnar is right...once you have the faceplate off, the knobs come right off.
So to repeat pounds question, did you paint this yourself or use a skin from mpcstuff or style flip?

again, props on the mpc...definitely is unique and looks clean! I'd defintitely want to flip some samples on that machine...

another question...why didn't you paint the function buttons as well? Also, can you tell me more about the paint you used? How many coats and all that...

yep thats a skin from styleflip.com just white background with black info layer.

they are really easy to put on, and if you ever want to take it off, it just peels off leaving no residue at all. the material is polyeurethane vynil so its quality stuff.

like i said, i got black ones from mpcstuff.com. thinking back on it i should have painted them too, it would have saved me a few bucks. but i'm not worried, they are identical to the black buttons i painted.

my local garage is also stocking the same paint i used in metallic black, so i think i'm gonna use that for the data wheel.

the paint i used is called hycote color match double acrylic. i dont know if its available outside of the uk. where u at jbraudio?

Yeah, just take the faceplate off and firmly grab the knob and pull. If you look at the post if came off of, it looks like a circle with a flat spot. There's only one way you can put it back on...that's to make sure the knob doesn't display the wrong volume or gain.

So you're happy you went with the style flip skin? I've been checking that site out since yesterday and am thinking of getting one. I'm glad you posted the pics because I was wondering how far down the front panels the skin went. Now I know!

i'm delighted with my stylflip definatley. really high qaulity material and the definition of the text is superb. if your unhappy with it they replace it for you.
