Over time I may add some small features which make life easier in that respect, maybe eventually a full mpc emulation, but dont hold your breath just now!

So, is the idea of the settings being in your editor for the sake of "rough guesstimates"?
Another question, if the samples have a loop point applied to them will this editor leave them undisturbed?

In that part where I was talking about "rough guesstimates" of "the settings" I meant specifically the parameters like Env, Tune, Vol, etc. not the overall editor. :? I hope I'm making sense...

keep up your good work.
consider doing some work with jjos2 programs in the future if you ever pick up an mpc1000/2500.

also, if you created a VSTi that played mpc programs, people would consider you a god.

A vst for mpc programs wouldnt take me too long hopefully, I already have the code base for that from a vst sampler from my uni dissertation. I will hopefuly write that once I am finished this. I would love to play with jjos but i cant afford a 1000/2500 right now, and no-one else I know has an mpc. I would love to do an O/S for the 500 but right now I just dont have the time to think about that!

If anyone can think of a better name than ChopShop500 then please suggest them!

I understand what you mean, and if I write the VST program player then I can transfer the sound engine to ChopShop500 and allow previewing, but until then, edits to program parameters cannot be previewed. The program editor section is pretty much the same as all other akai program editors.

A legend in the making! Thanks for all your hard work coder dude! Wish I could write code, I can't even begin to grasp the concept, but that's why god made you, lol... I look forward to the evolution & revolution of the MPC 500! :D

Just finished the new waveform display so I thought id share a progress screen shot. Obviously you cant see what works and what doesnt, but hey. Most things work now, but there is a lot of tidying up, testing, and stuff still to be done!http://rapidshare.com/files/125697504/screenshot.png.html

Whoaaaa! That looks awesome! What coding language are you using? You are the fastest coder-dude ever!

If you're happy to open source the code, I've got some java code that displays waveforms and allows some edits like selecting regions, normalise, reverse etc. would this be helpful? if so send me your email address and I'm happy to forward on the code. Bear in mind it was a hack job from memory and there are parts of it that aren't elegant.

my email is cixelsyd#@#optusnet.#com.#au

just remove the #'s.

Wow, this is coming along crazy quick. Above pic is amazing... I'd even use it over Recycle! Looks to have wayyyy more options.

I hope to have a working beta version released in the next few days, ill set up a website to download from with a bug report mechanism. Im not going to write a help file until the final release because I want to know how intuitive the controls are, and how easily you guys can learn to use the program. Also bear in mind that there will be bugs (probably a lot) for a while, and the program may not work in the exact way you would like it. I want to make the operation/work flow customizable so that it is flexible and will suit everybody, so I will also add a section on the website to submit ideas for improvements or different ways of doing thing. You will need the java 6 runtime environment to run the program (You might be able to get away with java 5 though.

Im not going to open the source just yet, maybe at some point in the future, but I really appreciate the offer for help om. I havent used recycle for a while so I havent really compared the features, im working from memory. However I dont think people should really have to pay the £149 for Recycle! Propellorhead have opened the rex2 file format to approved developers so I hope to get on that scheme and implement rex2 import too at some stage.

at risk of retaliation from others here, i suggest you BETA for free and charge a nominal "tip of the hat" fee for the full version - 10$ usd or something, to keep your interest as time goes on.

also, i highly highly recommend that you create a version for the mpc1000 (whose pgm files are identical to the mpc2500)

the mpc1000 is the most-owned mpc out there - we have a program called "bluebox" for program making, but it's outdated and isn't a chopper.

there's a significant hole in the market for these two things:

a program builder/chopper like you've done here and
an MPC pgm loading vsti

if you can, create a thread in the mpc1000 forums with this screenshot. folks will adore you for it.

again, keep up the good work - i'll keep my eyes on this project. very exciting stuff.
i may be able to get you the file architecture for the jjos2 drum and inst pgms, as well - which are slightly different than typical akai pgms.
