cutting off sounds with other sounds?????

i know how to cut off one sample, from its own sample, just set it to mono, but what if i have a little longer sample, and i want to throw a chop in directly after i hit the long sample, can it be cut off or will they both overlap?

lamp, iv read this before but im still trying to get my head around it, is there a way to set the 'mutes off' to all pads or do you have to do the same process for each pad. so that any pad will cut off the previous one or do you have to address the mute offs for each pad. i know the best way is trial and error but im at work (i love having the manual pdf on my desktop, im always sneaking a peak when the boss isnt looking).

This is only really possible with the 1000, 2500 and upwards.
On the 2000 and XL you can only mute a maximum of 2 other pads with another pad. Like someone else said look up mute groups in the manual.
One possible workround is to set each pad to 'note on' and hold down the pad for the required length of time before moving on to the next pad. I find this works easier for me using an external midi keyboard to trigger the MPC.

yo i aint trying to be a dick or nothing and you can tell from my post count that i havnt asked too many questions here without checking the manual but isnt the point of these forums to discuss work arounds to problems that you have? how can you do that when all people say is read the manual all the time? i know 99% of the problems posted on here can be solved by reading the manual which is why i have read it a few times now but you cant be expected to understand it all.

@ conrad i did say i had the manual in front of me which should indicate ive looked up mute groups (lamp already posted the page # up so no excuse not to)


By the way its 'NOTE OFF' - look it up in the manual

More like workarounds to problems that AREN'T addressed in the manual. I'm not trying to be a dick either, but you said you had the manual in front of you, try reading it. More than once. Table of contents.

Yes you can, it's your machine, you should know it or be actively on the hunt to find out everything you can about this multi hundred $ machine right? Yes you can be asked to understand it.

what so if i was doing a course in quantum physics i should just read the textbook and understand it all from the get go?

anyway this wasnt even my thread it was just something i was looking at. thanks for your help and i should have read the manual more carefully.

Quantum physics, lol. You had to compare to such an extreme in order to get your point across?

You must feel as if you are on the fence or something, it aint like that. :D :? :D

People learn by doing, watching someone do it and reading. I've found that most people I know read and push buttons while they read and then it becomes clear, that's all. Try that.

OK, you're right, you got me, I made an error, its 'NOTE OFF'. Was neither around my MPC nor the manual when I wrote it.
As you say I thought I was posting a workaround, but to be honest, after seeing this response from you, I sometimes wonder why I fu.ckin' bother
