Help! burning sounds on cd to load in mpc

Hi-

I have been trying to burn some .wav files i've been working on tonight to a CD so that I can load them to my mpc via my scsi cdrom. I know the cdrom is fine, I load stuff all the time. my problem is in the burning itself, i'm using Roxio easy CD on a PC, but it just won't work. What should I do? I've tried burning it as audio and as data, neither one is recognized by the mpc. This is really crazy, because I can remember burning kits I got off this website with a bunch of random wav files using Nero on my old computer, but I just can't get these to show up, just ? in the display.

At one point when burning it as data using windows explorer it asked me for a name, which I made as "new samples" the only thing that would show up on the mpc was like "new_sampl" with none of the .wav files I burned listed. Help!! I've wasted like 3 cd's already, why is this not working like it used to?

for starters nero is a much better burning program than easy cd. i don't believe easy cd makes real iso 9660 (orwhatever) cd-roms. why not try nero again?

true, true. Im downloading a new version now.

But, to try and save myself some cd's.....how should I burn the samples once I do have nero again? as data, or as audio? I don't want to waste any more cdr's

Also, none of this would be an issue if I had a zip drive on my computer. I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop, does anyone know of an internal Zip drive I could get for it? Also, if the drive was larger than 100 meg (the size of my external scsi drive) would it still read 100 meg disks? Thanks!

zip 250's still work wit zip100 disks as far as i know. they did when they first came out for sure.

data cd ISO9660 or whatever.

i believe people were using internal thin zip drives to use in their mpcs as internal zips, but i could be wrong. i am pretty sure they made internal zips for laptops.

I really want to get both an internal zip for my MPC (which should be easy enough, the FAQ on this site is great) but Im wondering what goes into installing a zip drive on an 8200 dell....anyody with any experience with this, please drop me an email

Hey DJ:A....i got a Dell 8200 laptop too...i dont got a zip drive yet though, i was going to buy one on ebay for cheap, and just hook it up to my laptop via the 50 pin seriel in the 8200 (i think thats the name of the port), and then just into the SCSI on the MPC when i wanna save MPC data....wont that work? I'm just curious why you would install a zip drive into the Dell (why not just use an external Zip drive that you can hook up to both the Dell and MPC)???

I dont know much about the Zip drives yet (i'm not going to buy one till a couple of weeks), but i'd be curious as to how you set up your stuff, since i got almost the same gear as you...

basically, I think the issue is that 1- I've never seen a serial zip drive ( i could easily be wrong) and even if you got a serial/USB zip drive, it probably wouldn't have scsi connections to go to the MPC. basically, i've already got a scsi zip drive for my mpc, and im tired of lugging it around, plugging it in (iomega power adaptors are HUGE) and an internal zip on the mpc would solve this easily.

As far as the laptop goes, its the same thing - internal means you don't have to worry about lugging around extra power adaptors and pluggin crap in.

I've pretty much decided to get an external USB zip drive for my computer, if I wasnt so cheap I would buy one that is powered by the usb port (meaning it doesnt need to be plugged in) then, after getting an internal IDE zip (really cheap on ebay) and following the instructions on this website, I won't need to lug it around to shows and jams and stuff. basically, I think your best (and cheapest) bet would be to do the same thing. Internal IDE for the MPC, cheap external USB for the laptop. heres a rundown of my setup...

MPC, external zip, external cd rom - midi'd to a
KORG MS2000 synth
Dell 8200 laptop, w/ ProTools Mbox

both devices go into the mbox, and thats pretty much it. I've gone through several different setups over the last couple of years, and simple always comes out best.

i have a cheap solution fo ryou in regards to zip drives. i got a usb zip 250 external for the same cumputer and about 4 gb's of zip disks on ebay for under $30. it works so well
