wow thats looking pretty cool,

im sure your inundated with requests but in the drop down menu i have a couple of "leftfield" suggestions :

alternate loop all slice
fix alternate loop all slice

alt loop is a God send in the mpc 1000 JJ os for chopping hits and given them natural decay tails,
the fix alternate loop would give the 500 guys a really useful tool to replicate this feature (by adding a reverse section of the sound onto the end of the forward sound) and give a way for the 1000 users to use there JJ chops elsewhere.

anyway i should probably let you get on with the important stuff!!
keep up the good work!

Cheers for the suggestion, can you just clarify exactly what these operation do, i havent used jjos, sounds good though. I just added batch edit, so you can select a set of pads and change a number of fields all at once.

yeah, the alt loop function stands for alternate loop. The loop point data is embedded within the wav file.
a normal looped sample repeats like this >--->--->--->---> i.e. it jumps straight from the end point to the start point of the loop.
an alt loop repeats like this >---------<>------<> the sample changes direction when it reaches the "end" point, carries on playing backwards til it reaches the loop "start" ,where it changes direction again....and so on and so on.

the "fix" idea was to allow compatibility between the 1000 and 500 (which doesn't have the JJ alt loop) Think of the fix loop like an edit function which pastes a reverse sample on the end of the forward sample and then (optionally)adds a loop region dependant on the size of the sample that is added.Your sample will end up longer but with a similar sounding result.

both of these techniques are really useful when chopping samples cause you can make the "air" behind the hit decay more naturally.

Maybe I missed something but I recall it being mentioned that you changed the title from ChopShop500 because you wanted it to be usable with the 1000 also... How is that going to be when you only have the 12 pads?

FYI- I like it only has the 12 pads...I also like the name ChopShop500 better than BeatButcher...Of course these are just merely my opinions... you look to be doing a incredible job!

WOW this looks great.

I would take great consideration when naming this baby.

GuyB, your gonna be Large and I'm sure people would pay a few bucks for all your hard work.

:D

I only have to change one variable in the program to make it add 16 pads instead of 12 because of the way its structured so it will look different depending on the model selected (and the features it provides). I will put alt loop on the list of things to do then, it wont make the alpha release (today hopefully), but maybe in a couple of days. PMs are going out today to a few people with a download link and ome instructions for the alpha testing. There will be an open beta with a bugtracking site quite soon depending on the amountof bugs that come up from the alpha. I dont want to release this finally with bugs like Akai would! Hold on though, because I have a busy schedule the next few days and I wont be able to do as much work and respond as quickly, possibly until the end of the week.
I dont know about the name, I really like BeatButcherMPC, and I thought there was an Akai program called chop shop, though I could be wrong.

Cheers guys
