mpc3000- memory storage - best method

hello - I'll be aquiring a 3000 soon (switch over from/in addition to the 1000) - and I want to know the best way to store things like a drum library. So the 1000's got the 2 gig flash memory and you can divide folders and so on. On the 1000 I had all my drum loops/one hits stored in a folder and would go through them to find what i need. The 3000 has disk or scandisk or hard drive right? Where do you guys store all you breaks or stock sounds? Do you have to use your brain and remember what record things are on??? Don't know if can... Hard drive then? Please give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you do suggest a hard drive, can you tell which are compatible with the 3.14OS? Alright cool - hope someone's got some good answers out there...

3000's don't have HD's your gonna have to use a external CF Drive or Zip Drive or Floppies.

as far as i know you can put a cradreader / zipdrive / harddrive in the 3k, and you can also hook up an external cardreader if your scsi is working

If you are running one of the Akai operating systems, then you'd need a Microtech PCD-15B or PCD-25B. If you have the Mansell-Labs Vailixi 3.5 os, then you have more options. Those same Microtech models, plus the PCD-47B and PCD-10, the Adtron SDDS and the MPL MCDISK drives (which we sell). Unfortunately, most of the Microtech drives and the Adtron are a bit hard to find.

If you use ZIP drives they store files in partitions
which is like the folder format in the 1ooo but the drive itself does everything
I personally use floppies for my beats
then once I make a song I put it in the sequencer and hook it up to my computer and make a file and save it so I have a backup copy of it
I like using one floppy a beat and then labeling it with song sampled and album
but you can install a card reader in the 3ooo, I suggest you do it because the transistion fron 1ooo to 3ooo is quite a jump back technologically
