How does bit convert sound?

This is one of the main reasons why i wanna upgrade ive been rockin the free version for the longest.I would like to convert my drums/samples to 12-bit

I found a post with some sound sample comparisons but the links expired HOLLA BACK!

install the OS and try it out for yourself

all JJ OS versions are fully functional (excluding saving) without paying for them

bit convert is PRE TUNING.
other than that, it simply sounds like bit convert, which is a pretty objective effect.

yeah, that was mine. i had a zip that included a comparison of the JJ OS Bit convert compared to sampling through my s950.

my web host lost all my files after a windows update so they had to switch my web server. unfortunately i didn't keep a copy of those comparisons on my home computer so i couldn't re-upload it.

if anyone has a copy of that, let me know so i can re-up it.

my old su700 allowed you to change the sampling frequnecy and bit depth in realtime, pre recording. So you could hear the results before you commit to sampling. very awesome feature that i miss dearly.

Dope, a recent thread got me thinking about running an old box or something to set between the outs of the signal & the MPC inputs. it would be unstoppable to bring in some drums at 22k into a 4k & then use 96k to capture the other shit.
I'm kicking around the idea of picking up a 4k. I'm telling you that 24/96 sampling engine sounds great, not good but great.

i tried the 4.99 ver. it seems cool im still thinking bout buyin it.The bit convert varies for each sample and it adds a nice effect for breaks.Simult pad is another reason i would buy this and i cant figure out how to move stuff in grid edit.

I agree. The effect varies from sample to sample. Some samples it warms up very well, but quite often I find it muddies the sound. I'll attribute this to the digital conversion and playing back at a higher sample rate... you don't really get that slightly fatter/chunky sound of an analogue 22khz, but it can still be a very useful effect and is a great addition along with all of the other great features of 4.99.

If I could figure out how to stuff a 22khz stomp box and tube effect into my bag along with the MPC and KP I'd be happy! There are a few things I've had my eye on, but they all seem to be pretty expensive.

I doubt I'd suggest anyone switch to 4.99 for this one feature, but if you're already interested in 4.99, then I'd say pull the trigger.

Bit Convert of the JJ-OS Sounds lo-fi, but in a computerish way. The Sound quality and feeling is far far far away from the warmth you can achieve with an S-950, which I own but seldom use, because I don't have enough space right now for this huge thing and also, I hate the disc drive. So, ease of use is given more on the software side of things here. It's at least better than not having the possibility to resample stuff at all...

can you sample thru the s950? or does it need to be in RAM, before its all 12bitty.

Needs to be processed first - "realtime" was still a dream in 1988, I guess
