MPC3000 effects question

Hey you lucky 3k owners! I'm thinkin' about gettin' my hands on this beauty pretty soon and looked through the manual..I know that this particular MPC hasn't effects card or sth,but only this reverb/delay unit? How it sounds? Any algorithm presets? Some inside info would be appreciated.Thanks

The 3000 doesn't have any effects option expect the compression utility on the new OS, which actually compresses the sound down to half size and makes it grimey as hell. Also, it has the classic low pass filter, remember that on your xl? lol!

The effects unit was made available through the EB-16 from the classic onwards. The old school beasts couldn't afford an FX processor back in the day. Consider the fact that the low pass filter was not even available on the 60 but only on the s950!

Hmm..strange enough.I've read about a delay/reverb effect in the manual..gonna find the exact page and post it Yep,i know about the EB-16..those glory days..haha! Anyway,thanks for the input peeps.

Hey Dr. Lector, the MPC3000 does have a delay processor in it...
I find it to be very useful, unfortunately it doesn't have a reverb processor....
Oh well suppose you can't have it all...

The delay is very clean, and you can set three different times, wich can be panned and set volume for individually. I like the delay a lot, and often use it on my main sample or shorter ones.

If you like you can hear the delay in action on my beats "Too Proud" (check the very ending of Too Proud where the delay increases) and "Thor's Stone" (espesially on the shorter vocal aah's) at http://www.myspace.com/deckdaddy. All beats straight from the 3000's stereo output - no additional mixing or effects.

Thanks for the input.I confirmed it,it's on the page 145 of the 3k manual,stated as "effects generator",only having the delays though.Aight, it's cool to hear sth. not that "dry" and even that little kind of effect helps me.Hope i'm gonna join the club pretty soon,haha!

Are you speaking about the Vaxelli upgrade? if so How do you access this?

I found the compression but It is odd to do with the pitch changing. If you go to far it seems you cannot bring it back and it is stuck WAY TO SPED UP.

I've got the compression on my 60. I must admit it's kinda tricky to use it. Just go with the 0 setting in the begging. However, it seems that it works somehow like a sub-harmonic synthesizer, as it tends to bring up all the low end from the sample. So if you got something with a huge bass body behind it, it going to clip when compressed.

The 3ooo only has a low pass filter and a delay w/volume and panning capabilities on 3 levels
but the low pass filter is extremely powerful
and the one thing that the 3ooo does that a lot of people look over an all MPCs is the velocity modulation
you can control the filter level by using the soft/hard way you hit the pads
as well as the start/end points on the envelope
if you get crafty with it you wont need a high or a band pass filter because you can do the same thing with a few extra steps

Yes, I am very interested in this too as I use an external high pass filter all the time and it would help me out A LOT to know how to use high pass internally in the 3000.
