Got Sampletank?

Anybody mess wit Sampletank before? Got any feedback?

phat! definately,
basically, depending on what you use to control it
(what kind of keyboard) it sounds like any other hardware workstation, but cheaper, i am realy impressed with it
try out the demo and see if you like the sound of it

Agreed, very nice program, 4.5 gigs of sounds, 5 fx per channel, 16 part multi timbral, imports samples for tweaking and playin, timestretch,etc, etc. Considering sellin' my Triton Extreme now. Make sure you got enough computer to handle it.

cooocoo1, said it all. it is a great vst but if you have $200 more dollars native instruments komplete 2 has a big bang for the buck too.

yo, how do you get the multitimbral thang going?
i can load other instruments but can't play them, only layer one

also, native instruments komplete is nice too, i use battery, it is similar to an mpc on your cpu
kontakt is pretty nice, it's got some nice time stretching, changes time and not the pitch!
i've heard about absynth, fm7 is nice, b4 is too
haven't messed with the pro 53 or 52, and i heard about reaktor, something about you can actually make your own synths, samplers or whatever, so jus get some demos and see what you like, you can get demos of all of these at their respected sites

triton extreme has 160mb, which is alot more thatn most hardware workstations right now

i dont think so, im on a G4 800mhz w/ 768 ram & I installed some demos of native instruments stuff and it basically brought my coputer to a hault when running inside PT as RTAS plugs. maybe you could run one plug at a time as standalone, but i dont know for sure...

That's fast enough. I prefer Hypersonic myself, it's about 3 times easier on the cpu and memory, and has great sounds. The filters are not as dope as Sampletank but since you're saving so much cpu you can run some more vst effects.

liked it, didnt interface to well with my mp, maybe I wasnt doing something right, def wanted to seq with the mpc and just output on it like a sound module, was running into problems with getting that done

When you turn the machine over is it anyway to add cables to the back like say midi out etc, or is that just for show, cause I was clicking everything back there trying to config it

Insert Sampletank into the fx rack> create 16 midi tracks> select the appropriate midi channel for each of the 16 tracks> record enable the track you want to sequence> hit rec+play> repeat for each track as you go

You don't have to create 16 midi tracks, you can just create them as you go but I saved the 16 track setup as a template so I can just load it up and get right to work.

Teh-Wei, I'm runnin Sampletank 2XL through Pro Tools on an Athlon 64 3400+ setup w/ 512mb(just ordered another 512mb, I don't wanna push my luck with PT) and an Athlon 2600m+ laptop with 704 mb of ram. I'm not sure how it will perform on your Mac but I know there are some folks with a similar setup runnin' Sampletank.

Iceberg, that's a good question, I haven't tried that yet, I'll look into it though.
