hey guys.
i had a little conversation in a different thread talking about the option to lock the sample-start with the loop start in trim mode (loop lock).
to me, this is a pretty useless feature and i would like jj to change it into loop-region-lock, so you can move the start or end point of the loop and the whole loop-region moves.

but as jj doesn't like to change features that are already in the os, i thought i'll come up with this poll to show him what the other users think about it.

happy polling.

It's something I've used on older samplers. How about an option to flick between the current mode and loop region lock functionality?

So, just for clarification, you're talking about changing it from a loop STARTPOINT lock to a loop START/ENDPOINT lock?

'Cuz for me, it's a 100% essential feature to be able to have the Loop start point be different from the Sample start point, but I could see the value in having the loop startpoint AND endpoint be seperate from the sample start/endpoint, for sure... Actually, if you posted a link to the original thread that might answer my question, so, you know, go for it.

Holla.

Yo.

i agree the looping would be much nicer with loop lock acting as a variable loop start point...

alright, i'll try to explain what i mean:

the little lock-symbol locks the sample start to the loop start. this is not very helpful to me, because i can easyly set loop and start to the same value. so this feature could go.

now i want to replace it, so that the lock-symbol stays where it is, but it works differently.
i want it to lock the lengh of the looped-region.

i'll try to give a simple example:

here is a sample with a loop thats starts with the sample start:
|YX|YXYX

now i lock the loop-region and move loop-start:
YXY|XY|X -> the loop-end moves too

then i move loop-end to sample end:
YXYX|YX| -> the loop is still as long as when i locked it, loop-start moved with loop-end

hehe, did everybod get it now? sorry, i sometimes feel like posting in jj-os forums isn't improving my english. it gets more engrishy...

the way you have the poll worded is a little confusing, since there can be 2 types of loop lock:

loop start-lock (locks loop start point to sample start point)
loop length-lock (locks the length of the loop so when you change loop start the loop end changes with it, keeping the loop length the same)

i think you will find people who want it both ways. i think the best chance of getting this implemented is by requesting it as an additional feature, so that the old loop start-lock method will still be there for the people who want to use it. there is no reason to get rid of it just to implement this new loop length-lock feature.

he can just change that little padlock icon in the TRIM screen to have an S (for start) or L (for length) beside it.
