Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I bought a 4gb Lexar CF card for use in my 500, but just noticed after reading the specifications in the MPC's manual that the limit is 2gb. I'm not experiencing any problems, and I see that the MPC formatted the card as FAT32 -- so theoretically I should be able to use the full 4gb on my MPC right?

My question is: If you have more than 2 gb of samples on your 4 gb CF card, do all X amount gb's of samples show up on the load menu when you go to load them? I always assumed the MPC 500 would arbitralily cut off certain samples/ folders after the supposed 2 gb limit. I really have no idea as i only have a half full 2 gb CF card.

The 500 Reads everything on lets say an 8gb Microdrive. The MPC 500 can only read 2 GB max of a Compact Flash Card.

Microdrive (Moving Parts) -MPC will Read whatever size. The Biggest I used is 8gb Microdrive

Compact Flash (No Moving Parts) -MPC will only Recognize and Read up to 2gb

Err... I use a 4 gig Compact Flash that is full loaded with samples. No problem here ;-)

Dunno. Its odd, but the same senario with my 1k. Reads any size Microdrive but only up to a 2G CF. Real Odd.

Good stuff. I'll test out a 4G cf again later today.
I guess the 500 reads all the cards. my bad, I guess I'm wrong. Last time I checked a 4g CF, it didnt work. I had no poblems at all running big Microdrives.

Peace

Did you update the OS? There is an MPC500 operating system update on the Products > MPC500 > Downloads page (version 1.31 I believe it is).
The only thing I can think of is maybe some of you have the updated OS and some have the original stock OS??
I just bought a 4GB SanDisk CF card and I'm dating the OS right now.

btw, did the 32GB work? That'd save me from having to buy a handful of cards.
I'm gonna upgrade the memory to 128MB some time this week but it's kind of annoying that it uses an odd type of memory. My Ensoniq ASR-X Pro upgraded with some old memory I just had laying around.
