Well....now that I am settled and fired up my MPC 5000 again...I have issues with creating my first beat. I loaded some drum samples I had in a folder. I trimmed a decayed kik drum and use the Amp envelope to smooth out the end of the sample. Next, I tried to create a simple 4 bar drum look. I pressed record/play and started hitting the pads. The metronome played for two bars and then just stopped. The MPC 5K froze at that point. The record and play buttons stayed lit. The only solution was to reboot the MPC.

I can say that I have had this issue happen to me at least about 5 times.... especially once I start moving fast thru the menus while Im making a beat...The Metronome would do that to me as well, The whole thing would freeze up, sometimes you can still here the beat playing, but you cant stop it, or press none of the buttons, and the machine is just stuck with the lights on... I got use to saving through unfortunately very often(almost every 2 minutes).

Bug when listenning to samples (play) in HD load mode

i got it twice already :

** Unrecoverable error **
Address ERROR -- PC OX3069E38C
ERROR ON INSTRUCTION FETCH

THe MPC freeze & i have to reboot

ALso i v often the " fx engine couldn t start " or random Fx messages at startup, about 1 time every 10 startup.

For this Grid Edit Bug, I don't do anything complex. I used one of the preloaded drum kits to create a drum pattern. I sampled a phrase off a record and chopped it into 8 samples then assigned it to a program. After getting the sequences to sound the way I want, I entered the Grid Edit Mode. When I hit the pads, it won't play any sounds or let me record while in this mode. When this happens, if you go into the Q-link Edit page (Q-link mode + open window), the pads won't trigger any sounds as well.

I also have this bug, only solution i found is to save the sliced program, reboot the MPC & reload it to get it working in grid edit mode
Each time i m creating a sliced program no matter the source i have to do that.

I hope AKAI devs are reading this thread...

While trying severals things i found another bug :

When you do a 2/4 1 bar sequence, save it as a project & reload it, the MPC doesn t loop when you press start

You have to put the sequence to 2 bar then put it again to 1 bar to get it looping.

just make a simple 2/4 1 bar beat, save it as a project, put the MPC off, reload the project & press play

here it doesn t loop, i have to set the mesure time again to get it looping

pretty boring when you have 64 sequences to do :S

The loop bug is confirmed and entered in the bugbase.
One small correction: after reloading the project you only have to open and close the time signature window (with the window button) to make it work again.

Regards, Boele

PS Tomazzzi: your other reports have been checked and entered.

@scd

To the best of your knowledge...can we expect an OS update soon?

I just spent the last three days unpacking boxes in my new apartment and setting up my studio. I finally got everything connected and started creating music on my 5K. Within a few minutes, it froze up on me. Very annoyed mostly because it was late at night....I just turned everything off and went to bed.

I plan on using the 5K with Reason 4 today especially interested in checking out how well the Q-links sliders/knobs perform using MIDI CC control.

Hi Askia,

Well, I have no info on a release date for an OS update, but I do know they are working on reported bugs so they are not put on a shelve. That's all I can tell.

In what circumstances the 5k did freeze? I mean, what were you doing on it at that particular moment?

With my latest freeze...I really didn't do much at all. I loaded up several of the kits that are stored in flash and used a MIDI keyboard to trigger that kits and record a sequence. The metronome counted down and then suddenly stopped which is when the MPC froze.

Thanks for reporting my bugs SCD !

yup, but imagine when you have 64 sequences like that :)

I have a request for the next os : when the MPC is in slave mode it doesn t send the midi clock to the outputs A B C D, would be very cool if it does !!

The MPC 5K does have this feature..unless you are saying that there is a bug.

SCD.... I got a request... Is there anyway we can get the machine to stop slowing down while using a lot of memory... Real talk, right now, its taking the good part out of using hardware when you have maybe a 100 megs of the memory in use, and the machine starts crawling when getting to other menus or screens.

Same problem here with only 30mb, the os really needs to be cleaned up & speeded up, cause ,yes, it s taking the good part of using hardware...

So it s another bug, cause it doesn t work, when slaving the MPC with my 909 or anything else the MPC doesn t retransmit the midi clock to the midi outs.
Anyone able to confirm ?

Thanks

SyncIn: 1 (Slave)
Mode: MIDI CLOCK (or MTC)
Recieve MMC: ON

SyncOut: ALL(MASTER)
Mode: MIDI CLOCK (or MTC)
Send MMC: ON

Whatever you want to come out of the 5000 must be set in Mode in the SyncOut settings.
