That's correct. You should be able to remove them with a pair of tweezers and pull them straight out.

Hmmm....

I put a Western Digital 80G Scorpio in today, bought from Thomann as specifically MPC1000-compatible.

Can't get the MPC to see the drive at all, let alone format it, on ANY operating systems, JJ or AKAI.

The drive spins when the MPC boots up and again when switching off, plus when i took it out to reseat it was nice and warm, so it's getting power...

Drive fried? HDM terminals fried? Internal terminals fried? This is stressful. Anyone?

How much have you paid for this s***. Less than 50 Euro?

ha! it was €88 from Thomann. i didn't reckon on the day wasted taking the :~>@~! drive in and out repeatedly

thing is, thomann are selling it as specifically for use in the 1k

still, i remember Western Digital being the subject of a lot of complaints over on the 4k forum, think it shipped with them as standard for a while and a lot of them packed it in...

i'm delighted for you... however, i wasn't looking for price one-upmanship, i was looking for a way to get my drive to work, or to hear if anyone had encountered the same problem...

'fraid not, i'm across the pond... thanks for the offer though. Think i'm gonna just send it back to Thomann and try another drive...

Installed and operate with no problems on a brand new MPC 1000.

I just got the same HD from tiger direct

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=2678

It seemed to fit in fine and the adapter went in fine but my mpc won't recognize it to format...when I loaded the mpc to check it on my comp I changed to hard drive and it popped up but it wasn't recognized either. I checked the easy things like making sure the pins are fitting all the way in and there arent any jumpers...I'm running JJOS 2 1.17 on my blue 1000...any help is greatly appreciated! I wanna get all my samples on my mpc it's gonna be so nice!!

I think it tops out at 100 or 120 gb.
80 gb is more than enough. No need for more, in my opinion.

hey dgrille did you sort out your problem? i've had the same, got the drive replaced, it gets recognised in my friend's 2500 but not in my 1k. Not a problem with the drive, not a problem with the mount... so if your situation resolved itself i'd love to know how...
