Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Cheers for all the suggestions, I am thinking it over, and also considering the distribution options from the mpc-tutor himself.
Its going to be a few days before a release, maybe more. Dont worry, it will happen, I wont abandon the project, just bear with me so it is all fully functional!

I'm back to developing the app today. Here is a screenshot from the new feature I am adding, you are going to be able to move the slice trigger points around independantly of where they are sliced in the file to create new grooves.
I keep saying it will be a few days until a download, im sorry, it is going to take time. I just dont want to release a buggy piece of software that you will all hate!

Impressive stuff! I noticed an Emulator X2 folder in your screenshot too.. Are you running that also? I have that too. Best software sampler imho.

Now, if it supports the the 16 pad MPCs also, will there be an option to switch between those and 12 pads for the 500? If you ever do a VSTi MPC emulator also, that would also be nice option to include there. Just so that users will easily know where all their samples are, instead of going from 12 to 16 pads or vice versa which could get a bit confusing.

But yeah, brilliant work. I'd definitely consider charging for it if I were you, even just as an administration cost to have a website up and running for it.

just checking - there is a way to specify inequal zones? ie wholly different sized portions?
many of us chop not on a "16 equal chunk" basis.

You can place markers manually, move them, delete them and whatever. Divide splits it into a chosen number of even sections, i am adding a swing feature to this too, and then there is autochop which will use threshold beat detection.

I think I am going to do a two tiered release, one for free and a paid upgrade with more features. I'm not going to cripple the free one or fill it with adds but there will be some features not present. I havent decided which ones yet though. It will only be a small sum, under $30, i havent decided yet. I need to finish the project first!

Multi MPC support will be via a menu, it will just change the settings available in the program editor section, nothing else. It will all be in the one release.

way to go guyb!
One feature request!
Will we be able to trigger slices with keys on the computer keyboard? It would be quicker to preview slices that way. You could assign ASDFGHJKL keys to markers 12345678. Would be sweet.

Jesus nice workd on this one bud.
I definitely wouldn't mind paying a bit for it.
Also put me down for some Mac OS X testing, i'd be more than willing to help out.

You might also want to check into releasing it under one of the open source licenses so other eople can start having a dab at improving it?

With the work you're doing, you might be able to hack up a MPC 500 OS next, now that I'd be willing to pay top dollar for.
