Synth/not MPC tho...

Closest place that I thought to compare these 2 Synths I'm thinking about getting.....

Should I Get The "Korg R3" or the "MicroKORG"?

I've read A LOT of great things about the MicroKORG and a lot of well known hip-hop producers use it. I haven't heard much about the R3, except that it's the "Big Brother" of the MicroKORG. Their both synths obviously and they both have a built in vocoder. If the Korg R3 is the "Big Brother" of the MicroKORG, doesn't that make it better than the MicroKORG?

I'm wanting my basslines/synths to "resemble" those of Nujabes, Lupe Fiasco, Black Eyed Peas, Gorillaz...

do you know how to program your own synth patchs or will you be using presets?

Is your big brother better than you? Or just....different?

Sometimes you just gotta buy one, try it and if you dont like it try something else.

The key is to try not to lose money on gear, if you lose up to 10% of what you paid that is an acceptable cost for owning and trying out something. Any more than a 10% loss will just seem like a costly mistake, and we dont do that do we?

There is no point asking people what they think, because its what YOU think that matters. What sounds good/ nice is a subjective thing so there is no right or wrong answer. Im sure KORG have demo's online, or you could go to a store and try a few synths out.

Dont get caught-up trying to become a soundalike. Learn to program synths and you'll be able to make the type of sounds you like. What do you think all the knobs and sliders are for? Presets?
