Diggin in Muscat, Oman?

I knooooooooooooow this is probably a long shot, but...
Can anyone please let me know of any places for vinyl in Oman?

Man I miss my turntables and records!!!

I looked hard everywhere i went esp. at mutra souk and found nothing last winter - though there was a box of records in one shop on the high street outside the souk a few years back (it was 80's wazz though)

If you do have any luck let me know cos im going out there again this winter -

but it doesnt seem like the kind of place to do records - the culture seems to be based around new stuff - and there were no built up areas 30 years ago so no record (vinyl) industry from the golden era.

of course you have to ask the russians out there alot of them have records out there... i forget how to ask for it but just find out how to ask in the native language! and cop a cuban too they are dumb cheap out there!

Looks like a great place though. The Gulf probably isn't the best place to dig in general.

There might be records there but it seems that based on the local religious beliefs you wouldn't find a lot of western type musical forms that are more liberal or non-Muslim . Not to mention the fact that the records would probably be in bad condition in general. Hopefully you can still find something though.

in deed not a place to dig unless your removing mines! or IED's... but the Russians at the Hotels & resorts had the records and what not when i was there mostly 80's and rock but hey might as well get what you can while your out there... and im sure your in a much better enviorment than i was out there!

I'll be in and out of Muscat for the next year. I didn't find any record stores but I did see some fine azz Russians! lol

have you checked around mutra souk? - its by the bay where the sultans ships are moored up -there was a furniture/touristy/antique shop that had 1 box (lots of 80's western tat, maybe something though), but when i went back the next year i couldnt find the place. but it felt like a good place to ask around - but i didnt bother doing any detective work as i waasnt staying long.

im back out there in the new year - let me know if you find a goldmine!

i take it your in the military... so going to that port would be UA...
and be careful where you end up diggin out there!
somebody may be diggin holes looking for you! not the best place to be as a american & male
