REASON NN-19 OR NNXT?

Please give me some feedback on the comparison between these units. I say just go with the NNXT as it is fully loaded, but i would like your opinion.

I was going to reply but it really doesn't make any sense to even bother. The question was posted for MPC users that incorporate REASON in there setup.

The NNXT is vastly superior to the NN19! check out the amount of controls on the thing and how you can drop samples into it have it detec the oitch and map all the samples 4 U ! incredible ! .

Having said that why dont you just multisample with the mpc... reason drops the resolution of your samples until you render the file (i.e export it as a wav), even then its been processed by reasons sound engine (i.e code) - if you have ever done any computer programming youll understand what Im saying.

The MPC just plays back your pure wav samples thru its hardware A/D which are probably vastly superior than your computers audio interface A/D!!!! dont believe me - just ask any industry professional.

good luck with reason! the mpc is a tried and tested peice of audio gear that has stood the test of time even with so many software synths and plug-ins around.! hmmmmm food for thought? C YA!

my1k, why pay $1000 for a mpc when you can get reason for $300? with reason you get a many nn-xt samplers as your computer can handle plus drum machines, and synths. yes, mpc has stood the test of time but reason is the wave of the future. just ask any professional(s). i forgot, in the same package with reason are effects. what about the mpc? the mpc is a great tool but so is reason and just because you have one does not make it any worse or greater than anything else.

Thanx. I really appreciate your input. I kinda already knew exactly what you are saying, but i just wanted to see if anyone else could shed some light. I have the MPC but with this next project i want to use more sample tricks than the MPC will allow. I only have a floppy drive on the MPC and i think it would be better to use it as a trigger for like 5 NNXT 5 DREX plus a REDRUM and some FX. It is easier to save all of the work to a DVDR than the multiple floppies i would have to use with the MPC. You know sometimes you just get bored of creating with outboard gear and software, laptop to pc and you just want to get down to making music. True the MPC will do it all. I love the use of the MPC with the PC, there is nothing like the feeling of hitting those pads, kinda reminds me of the lunch table when i was a wee lad in school. OLDSCHOOL HIPHOP!!! LOL!

Using software sampler for drums doesn't feel right for me somehow. I only use them for loops and instruments really.

It just gets to the point where you have too much gear. You are always looking for software upgrades and additional scsi ports or in and out ports. When do we have the time to actually make music or music that last beyond the one hit wonders. How many of us have actually tried to sample the kitchen sink or the pots and pans. Right now, i am just using everything i have to make the hottest records. You never know someone may actually be listening. Enjoy your new toy.

well, i have a s2000 and scsi hookup with a computer (desktop) on my hardware studio but i have out grown it. the s2000 does sound solid.


what is the differents between a hardware sampler and software sampler. my s2000, s01, or mpc can not do the things that my samplertank xl, kontakt, battery, giga, redrum/nn-xt (reason) and intakt can do. plus i can carry my samplers in my backpack. next are the pads, well i play the drums and if you have rythm you can beat on anything. can, coffee tables anything. the mpc is a nice machine and if you are a hiphop producer or beatmaker you need one to be DOWN> in the hiphop world. but there are other tools that are capable of doing exactly what mpc does and more at a fraction of the cost.
