man, ive got the numark ttx1. I know you said cheap, but they are pretty reasonable on ebay for new 300.. Anyways, dude, i can directly connect it because it has a switch for phono, or line level-its got a preamp built in so all you have to do is get the table and some a needle.
But the reason i recomend it is because its got the bpm counter.....i dont really dj, so i dont care about using it for mixing, but i use it for sampling, and timestretching on the mpc. It works well, because i have the bpm before i even sample. then when i go to edit the sample on the mpc with timestretch, i get it to work good because i can enter the original bpm in by hand.....sometimes the mpc misscalculates it-rather it calculates it not to the whole song, but just the sample segment.
I only have one turntable-plus its nice because you can use it for scratchin in some stuff.....if you go with a cheappy, it wont be as good for scratchin even if you dont plan on doing it, its a bonus.
