MPC 3000 Pad Velocity Problem

I'm having problems with the velocity the mpc 3000 registers when I strike the pad.

I switched from a 3000 to a 2000 for a couple of years and now I'm back with the 3000. The problem I'm having is the MPC registering my velocity when I hit the pads. I use the MPC as a master and have battery 3 slaved for the drums - what I first noticed is for hi hats I had to hit the pads fairly hard and doing this repeatedly my fingers quickly became sore.

I did a test of my MPC 2000xl in step edit and my MPC 3000 in step edit hitting the pads at comparable speeds and recording the differences in velocity. It seems the 3000 velocity was always 20-25 lower than the 2000xl. Also I almost have to bang the 3000 pads to get a max velocity of 127, where the 2000xl it seems much easier.

I've had the 3000 serviced recently and the tech found no problems with the 3000. Was the tech wrong? is this normal for the 3000? would switching out the pads help me determine the issue?

If anyone has had a problem like this or you have a suggestion your help would be greatly appreciated.

it's normal. you have to bang on the 3k pretty hard.

That's what i noticed too when I got the 3000: the 3000 is more dynamic! With the 2000 you can stay on the max with "full level" off, and so it's not as dynamic. The 3000 is trickier, and then you always have the possibility to hit those extra loud ones. I use "Full level" to get hard notes, and turn it off for less loud notes, and that works well for me. But I don't use the MPC as a MIDI-interface to control other stuff. (And I would never have my drum samples inside a computer than inside my MPC3000. The MPC is king)

Im having a similar problem with an mpc60 i got recently, you have to hit the pads like mike tyson to even get near a velocity of 127. Does anyone know if this normal for the 60 too cause i was thinkin of gettin new sensors.

now, thats not supposed to be. 60 is much more sensitive than the 3000. try vst or forat for new sensors?
