Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I'm using my MPC as a sequencer for my Triton LE. I ran my audio output into a mixer and it works except everytime I record a new track, all previous tracks change to the sound of the new track. If I have a bass sound on track 1 and I record a piano on track 2, track 1 turns into a piano track. How do I get the sounds to stay the same when I change the sounds on my keyboard?

I just got another 2K classic a couple weeks ago after not having one for 5 years. I'm sure that what I'm going to suggest works the same in the 2K-XL.

Let say on track 1....you change the drum to midi on the screen. Then depending on which midi port you're using (either A or B) Make your first track selection. (For my example I'm using midi-A). Set the midi setting to A1. Then change the "Pgm" (program) to the desired sound in the Triton.

When you get ready for the next track....follow the same steps EXCEPT set the midi on A2 and then dial in the next sound in the Triton...

Midi A3= track 3
Midi A4= track 4.......and so on!

Note: You might want to have different tracks with the same sound from the Triton or you might use a few internal sounds/samples in the MPC...so the midi channel and the track number might not always match like my example! Just trying to give you an example of what to do!

Also keep in mind that if you are playing keys/chords from the Triton rather than using the MPC pads, you need to manually go to the track that you are recording on the Triton after you set it up in the MPC! If the Triton is still on track-1 and you have the MPC set on another midi track....you'll hear both sounds at once which will throw you off! Using the MPC-2K-XL you can also name the midi device, in which I can't do using the classic! That should make life easier for you!

Last thing to consider: Power on your Triton and see which version of the OS you're running! They have updates on the Korg site if you have an older OS version. The last Triton update addressed midi bugs! I had problems with my MV8000 and Triton until someone told me about the updates from Korg!

Got Luck Fam!
