MIDI AS AUDIO

OK WHERE SHOULD I START, WHEN I HAVE MY MPC 1000 SEQUENCING MY KEYBOARD VIA MIDI IS THERE I WAY I CAN CHANGE IT TO AUDIO INTEAD FROM MIDI. i WANT THE AUDIO NOT MIDI

what do you mean by "you want the audio not the MIDI"

are you asking what the differance is because midi and audio are two seperate animals

MIDI tells the keyboard what to play. You've got to record the audio coming out of the keyboard to use it as an audio "sampled" file. but then you are stuck with a piece of audio that cannot be modified much. IMHO midi is better until you actually record the track. with midi you can record any knob twist or dynamic as the track goes along. and the MPC makes this recording process easy. just overdub. If you don't like it, undo it and try again. simple. "bounce" everything to audio when your satisfied.
of course audio is probably better if you are just telling the keyboard to play drum hits. but if your playing basslines or synth leads, you should really use MIDI.

I always thought MIDI was the way to go, but that's not always the case. For example, with my Virus b, if I sequence multiple tracks, I need to have it in multi-mode which is a pain to setup. I basically have to redo all of my effect settings for multi-mode because they don't translate from single mode. Then I have to record the patch arrangement into the MPC. And finally, I have to play it back into the MPC before I start the song to load in the patches. Lately, I'm finding it easier just to record a Virus MIDI track and then sample that back into the MPC to a pad. I admit that audio doesn't leave much room for post-editing, but it's less of a hassle and I have my whole song self-contained in the MPC (no need to carry my whole MIDI setup around to replay the song). Of course, if I just had the MPC and a sound module, I'd probably keep it all MIDI. Any opinions?

So to the original poster, if your question is how do you convert the MIDI to audio -- solo the track you just recorded, go into Record mode, start recording, press Play Start, stop the recording, and select Keep. That's it!

Plug the outs of your synth up into the record ins on your 1000 and hit record - audio

like my man suggested
