The prices of good vinyl are f*ucking ridiculous man. I dont have money to be spending 10-30 dollars for decent soul records man. I mean I can find some decent shit in the cheap bins but if you want to get the good shit you have to pay and arm and a leg man its crazy... I can find all those rare soul albums online instead of paying 30 dollars per record man. I hate to say it but I think im going to start sampling mp3s man. I mean you lose a little bit of sound quality and you dont really get that "TRUE" vinyl sound, but i think its worth the sacrifice and Ill be saving myself alot of money.... does anybody else agree with me on this???

i sample the mp3s too meng, actually the last few beats ive made have all been mp3s.

viynl is expensive, but it is really dope at the same time. i just dont know enough about digging yet to be dropping all that money on a mediocre record.

i guess its all live and learn.

yup, records are overpriced. but producers like alchemist also sample from mp3s. he once said that he made a few singles with mp3 samples, which he would have never found if he hadn't used those little internet programs. he said that it's hip hop, it doesn't have to be crystal clear music, i'll add my big drums and my big drums and if the ish sounds good, i'm good. he also said that he always tries to find vinyl version of mp3s. but hey he's got paper.

No matter what medium or source it comes from, if it fits your vision then do it.
Don't limit yourself to only one source of sounds.

Thats no joke i've been hooked for 30yrsi'm a crackhead for vinyl,

but hey if you find something on mp3,sample it there's no rule saying you can't use it.

there's no rules to sampling NOOBIES NEED TO BE AWARE OF THAT,just be creative and flip sh!t

I feel lazy if I sample a groove from an mp3. I must cop the vinyl, or at least a CD when there is no vinyl available. The only time I really sample a mp3/.wav, is if I'm looking for a specific drum sound (ex: crispy live isolated cymbal) I don't have on vinyl.

I just can't seem to sample mp3. I feel like it just isn't right. DL shyt from a blog or whatever just feels like a million people got that record. I'm just too hooked to vinyl. I must be the only 20 year old who doesn't own an mp3 player.


Diggin in the crates to me is part of the process. It the most fun part of beatmaking. Going into a store and finding something you never heard before and chilling out and listening to that shyt.

As said I must have the vinyl or CD. Mp3 is no-go for me but if someone wants to sample mp3 well i'm not really bothered. As long as that shyt sounds good.



and soul and prog records always seem like the most expensive in most stores i go in. Also everyone wants soul. Nerdy collectors, beatmakers, old guys, etc.
**** that i wanna be 1st in line or not be fighting over shyt. Ill dig for something else.

So you avoid downloading MP3s because you don't want the same shit everyone else has, but then go into record stores looking for the same soul records every other douche would look for?
