Well, I'ma have to disagree with you on that bub. Yes a disaster for the weak, fragile, crybaby type, but just right for many of us as far as features & performance is concerned, regardless of manual or not.

If and when Akai ever makes another MPC that truely outweighs the 4k in any aspect, then and only then will I give some consideration to making a purchase (sorry, no hate...the 5k just ain't the one).

I'm just one of those that just doesn't go chasing MPC's just because it's the newest or latest model out, my standards are a little more than that.

tomazzzi wrote:I worked with the 5000 about 24 hours this long week end without any single freeze & trust me i v done much more experienced things that you can see on those tiny youtube vids :)

The mpc was up & running for more than 12 hours yesterday : not a single crash !

So if you have a lot of freeze maybe your 5000 have a problem.

I got it freeze about 2 or 3 times since i have it.

I m loading big projects with a lot of programs, sequences, fx etc...

Only a few bugs that i already mentionned here but anything critical at all.

Great!!!! This was my point all along to point out some have major problems but most don`t it`s the individual unit and the individual users.

You can put several individual mpc users in the same classroom and some have no major hiccups and others have a lot go figure some can make beats and others who knows.

Peace out if you make music then make music.

lol... they are very experienced.... in whose opinion

Not hatin on what they are doing or their music.... but there was nonthing special or experienced that they were doing...

Id rather watch my boy Boon on his MPC 1000

I like Boon too but whether you love or hate it dude`s has a unqiue style and sound with his music and as anyone can see his mpc 5k isn`t CRASHING very few seconds doing something as simple as changing his menu screen like some claimed.

If your mpc does you really should have it checked. No hate just make music.

Askia Shaheed wrote:Wow....Blue Haze is trolling the MPC 5000 forum and he is using my own catch phrases

For the record, the MPC 5000 is a beat with regards that it is a significant upgrade to every MPC (with the exception of the MPC 4000 which can also be debated). The OS of the MPC 5000 has it quirks like any OS for new products. Any experienced user knows this. The MPC 4000 was completely unusable with it's first two OS releases. I know this because I owned one and sold them and people were trying to get their money back.

The freeze I experienced can be reproduced every time and I have reported it to Akai and the bug is confirmed. There is no way you can make a 'mistake' on an MPC and it crashes. That is silly for anyone to suggest that.

Stop the trolling. We, MPC 5000 users are here reporting the facts and not trying to sell any of you this machine. That is Akai/Numark's job. I am here to tell it like it is and will not be selling my MPC 5000 or my new Fantom G (which also has quirks) to anyone anytime soon....and if I did go back to another MPC, it would be an MPC 2500 which is also a monster.

One.

Jah save your work from now on until the O.S. drops in December then. So next time you try to save your work and it crashes you can pray that the O.S. it on the way to fix it. Meanwhile some of others with the same 5k will be making beats with no major problems.

Some do and some don`t.

I agree with Blue Haze. Take the 5k back if you can't do a simple or a single thing without it crashing. Try another 5k to at least put your mind at ease or give the benefit of a doubt you may have a lemon. I had my 5k since july the 2nd and it had os 1.00 new. I upgraded to v1.01 the same day and I witness no crashes so far. I do admit to some slow downs, but I forgot what I was doing when I notice it.

Not trying to say I have the perfect mpc5k and I'm expecting to see some glitches and maybe a crash here or there. But, I be damn if I put up with some of the crashes that is simple like saving and loading or switching modes.

I put my 5k on layaway on june the 7th so like many of you guys I might have one of the first batch to be made.

I'm very happy to own a 5k and I feel its as good as my 4k feature wise but, I'm not ashame to take it back and demand another one or my money back.

Stop trying to help our forum you non-MPC 5000 users. I guess the MPC 4000 forum is so dead you guys have nothing better to do. Also, be original and stop using my catch phrases and signature :P Since you guys can read, I have to post this again. Crash/freeze doing some functions has been confirmed by Akai.

@Heavie....I never had a slow down on my MPC 5000 so maybe you should take yours back. Something is obviously wrong with yours. When you put your MPC 5000 on layaway, I already had one banging my head on it and reporting bugs because I paid in cash as soon as it hit the streets

@Blue Haze
Thanks but you can teach me anything about an MPC that I don't already know.

This MP definitely has some serious issues with the OS... and by the sounds of things, the processing power too. I can't see an updated OS making the saving/loading any faster either.
